Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Base pay range$80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yrAdditional compensation typesAnnual BonusA national publishing company in the North Denver/Boulder, Colorado area is seeking an experienced, self-starting, detail-orientededitor with a minimum of 10 years of experience specifically as a national business/trade magazine editor. The candidate will oversee all aspects of planning, managing and producing a monthly trade magazine, as well as the daily editorial operations of writers, reporters and photographers.We are seeking a driven editorial professional who leads by example and takes immense pride in the quality of work completed.Responsibilities include:Hire, coach and supervise business writers.Plan/facilitate the acquisition of all editorial content including all stories and photos to create each month’s magazine for a niche business audience.Collaborate with the production department on layout and design to create a finished product.Research feature story topicsand industry business trends.Assign tasks to subordinates and freelance contractors including editors, staff writers and photographers.·Extensive proofreading, copy editing and fact checking feature stories under strict deadlines.·Coordinate editorialstaff meetings and training to ensure best practices and policies are adhered to.Attend annual trade shows and industry events, build relationships with key industry leaders and research industry-specific trends and topics of interest to readers.The right candidate will have proven, extensive experience combining the innovativeness of a writer, theexpertise of a grammarian copy editor,the astute analytical precision of an editor, paired with the vision, multi-tasking and leadership of a manager.IMPECCABLE grammar and spelling with intuitive skill at ensuring story construction is written professionally, is concise, thorough, interesting, unbiased,and according to Associated Press Style in a long-form business feature format is essential for this position. This position includes heavy editing/copy-editing duties to ensure error-free prose.The publication’s readers are a niche audience including company officers, executives and key decision makers so the ability to research and identify editorial content specifically targeted to the audience’s entrepreneurial industry-specific interests is essential.Duties in this position also occasionally include writing business features for sophisticated business owners, to help them effectively and efficiently manage their business and be profitable.If you are a take-charge, take-responsibility, deadline-driven manager with extensive experience and expertise specifically producing business magazines, we want to hear from you.The right candidate must have exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills, have a mission-driven vision and must be adept at providing leadership and training from extensive working experience as a writer and editor.Please apply if you are comfortable researching and vetting content leads, cold calling organizations and business leaders for editorial content, are capable of error-free prose, have an eye for photo composition and story layout in a magazine format. Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate within 15 miles of the North Denver/Boulder) area. Business travel outside of Colorado is required 6 to 8 times per year for various trade/business events.
