A DPG client, a growing multi‑state organization in Rochester Hills, is seeking a strategic and hands‑on HR Director to lead their two‑person HR function. While titled “HR Director,” the role operates much like a one‑person HR department — ideal for someone who enjoys building, optimizing, and making a meaningful impact across the organization. About the Role As the HR Director, you will be the driving force behind the company’s people strategy and day‑to‑day HR operations. You’ll partner closely with the executive team while also rolling up your sleeves to ensure HR processes run smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include: • Leading all HR operations for a 160‑employee, multi‑state organization. • Managing and developing an HR Assistant. • Overseeing employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation. • Modernizing and automating HR processes and workflows. • Administering benefits, payroll, and compliance programs. • Supporting talent acquisition, workforce planning, and onboarding. • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws • Building scalable HR infrastructure to support continued growth. The Ideal Candidate Someone who thrives in a growing environment and enjoys being both the strategist and the doer. The ideal candidate will bring: • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities. • Strong knowledge of multi‑state employment law, benefits, payroll, and compliance. • Experience building or modernizing HR processes and systems. • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills. • Confidence partnering with executives while managing hands‑on HR work. • Proficiency with HRIS systems (Paycor, Paycom, ADP, Dayforce, Etc) and modern HR technology. • A builder’s mindset — resourceful, proactive, and ready to elevate the function.
