Position: Parking Attendant: Special Events Location: Downtown Oakland Type: Full-Time, Part-Time: Temporary Job Summary: We are seeking a Parking Attendant who monitors/oversees a parking facility/lots and issues tickets and collects payments for parking fees. A Parking Attendant should have customer service skills, along with being proficient with basic math problem-solving. Parking Attendants need to be reliable and trustworthy, along with being alert and aware. It is an important part of the job to ensure the safety of all vehicles under a facility's care. Responsibilities: · Adhere to Douglas Parking standards and procedures of operations: Proper ticket distribution and payment collections. · Adhere to Douglas Parking's customer service standards by coordinating vehicle flow, directing vehicles to the appropriate parking areas, and monitoring parking areas while maintaining safety and cleanliness. · Work closely with the management team to maintain a consistent line of communication. · Reports all guest issues to the Supervisor or Manager on duty. · Manage and keep out unauthorized vehicles or any personnel loitering in the facility/lot. · Ability to complete a DSR (Daily Sheet Report) at the end of every event. · Other related tasks, as needed. Requirements: · Must adhere to the dress code/uniform and grooming standards. · Ability to read and write proficiently in English. · Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. · Communicate with others to effectively. Strong listening skills. · Available to work on weekends or after hours to meet the demands of the operation. · Ability to sit and stand for periods of two hours or more. · Ability to run when necessary. · Must arrive to work on time and set up for events, i.e., open up the booth, set up signs, ensure tickets are available, ensure the card terminal is charged, and additional duties as required. · Reliable transportation to and from site location frequently/daily · Willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. · Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. · Ability to work in teams. · Team player mentality and willingness to jump in on things outside of their job description. · Ability to perform cashiering duties for parking payments and ensure the ticket count corresponds with the number of tickets given out. · Ability to work a hand-held credit card terminal for credit card payments. · Ability to direct traffic to designated areas in a calm and professional manner. · Assist guests in and out of wheelchairs as necessary and safely. · Ability to lift 15 – 20 pounds · Must adhere to established cash and non-cash variance policies. · Ability to calmly handle disgruntled and frustrated customers. · 2+ years of customer service experience preferred. · High School diploma or GED required.
