Please note: COMPENSATION WILL BE IN EQUITY - NOT A TRADITIONAL SALARY At dotChat, we are building Presents.Chat - the free personal AI shopping assistant that turns a simple prompt into hundreds of real shoppable product cards. We’re solving a global problem and scaling fast. To keep up with the demand and accelerate development, we’re looking for a** Backend Engineer who loves working with LLMs, retrieval systems, and fast Python services**. You’ll be working closely with our current engineer, Rushi, to push new features into production at high speed. 🎯 Role Backend Architect: You will take ownership of our core backend services from RAG pipelines to model orchestration. Your expertise in Python, FastAPI, and async architectures will be vital as we continue scaling the system. AI Systems Builder: Work directly with LLMs and embeddings, optimize our retrieval logic, integrate OpenAI APIs, and refine the intelligence that powers Penny, our AI personal shopper. Infrastructure Operator: Leverage Azure for deployments, vector databases, caching layers, and everything needed to ensure high availability and fast response times as we grow. 🖥️ Work Environment Remote-First: Work from anywhere with flexible hours, aligned with the team during weekly sync calls. Modern Stack: Python, FastAPI, Azure Web Apps, Azure Functions, vector DBs, OpenAI ecosystem, GitHub, structured microservices. 🤝 Requirements Experience: At least 3 plus years in backend engineering, with strong hands-on work in Python and production-level APIs. Skills: • Python • FastAPI • RAG systems and vector databases • LLM workflows and OpenAI API • Azure (Web Apps, Functions, App Config, Blob Storage, etc.) • Async design and performance optimization Nice to have: embeddings tuning, retrieval optimization experience, multi-merchant integrations, product search. 🌟 Why Join dotChat?
