Role and Responsibilities • Lead non-perishable food and general merchandise operations with guidance from the Store Manager. • Support inventory management, visual merchandising, and overall customer satisfaction initiatives. • Unload, unpack, and stock merchandise efficiently; rotate stock and maintain accurate displays. • Return misplaced or recovered products to their proper location and assist with inventory accuracy. • Open and close the store at least once weekly, processing overrides, returns, and bank deposits. • Help manage scheduling, payroll input, and ordering to meet inventory availability goals. • Assist with the execution of planograms, promotional setups, and seasonal merchandising changes. • Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards, leading regular safety checks and initiatives. • Step in as the acting leader when the Store Manager is unavailable, ensuring smooth daily operations. • Ensure the team follows company policies, procedures, and operational best practices. • Operate registers and scanners, complete transactions accurately, and bag items appropriately. • Contribute to the store’s 7-Day Workflow Plan, including stocking practices and Find-Fill-Fix routines. Required Skills and Experience • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred. • Three or more years of experience in a retail environment is preferred. • One to two years in a supervisory role, such as assistant manager or department lead in grocery or retail, or equivalent experience as a DG key carrier. • Ability to analyze operating reports and take action to improve performance. • Familiarity with cash handling, store security, and key control procedures. • Understanding of local food safety regulations and ability to obtain required certifications. • Proficiency in inventory management, product ordering, and merchandising strategies. • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities. • Basic math skills and experience processing transactions at the point of sale. • Comfortable with retail systems and internal communication technology. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with hiring, onboarding, coaching, and employee terminations. • Knowledge of planogram execution and seasonal merchandising planning. • Familiarity with retail safety, sanitation, and cleanliness practices.
