About Doctronic Doctronic is a medical AI company that operates a nationwide virtual clinic and builds clinical infrastructure platforms for healthcare organizations. We deliver AI-enabled care directly to patients across the country through our own clinic and partner with specialty care organizations to deploy AI-driven clinical workflows at scale. We are committed to advancing the evidence base for AI in clinical medicine. The Role We are looking for a Director of Research to lead and scale Doctronic’s research program. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who can independently design and execute studies that demonstrate the clinical value, safety, and economic impact of AI-enabled care delivery. You will serve as the connective tissue between our internal teams, academic collaborators, and the broader health economics community — translating operational data into rigorous, publishable evidence. This is not a supervisory role overseeing others’ research from a distance. We need someone who can get their hands dirty: formulating study designs, managing IRB processes, running analyses, writing manuscripts, and driving projects to completion. What You’ll Do Lead Independent Research Design, execute, and publish studies evaluating Doctronic’s clinical AI systems — including diagnostic accuracy, treatment appropriateness, patient outcomes, and operational performance. You will own the full research lifecycle from hypothesis through publication. Build and Manage Academic Partnerships Identify, cultivate, and manage collaborative relationships with academic medical centers and research institutions. Structure joint studies, negotiate data sharing agreements, and coordinate multi-site research efforts that lend external credibility and rigor to our evidence base. Drive Health Economics and Value Demonstration Partner with health economists and actuaries to develop and validate savings methodologies, cost-effectiveness analyses, and actuarial models. Translate clinical performance data into the economic language that payers, health systems, and regulators require. Collaborate with Internal Evaluation Teams Work closely with Doctronic’s internal clinical evaluation and data science teams to prioritize research questions, establish evaluation frameworks, and ensure that ongoing quality measurement feeds into the broader research agenda. Shape the Research Roadmap Help define what questions matter most — and in what order — to support Doctronic’s commercial, regulatory, and scientific objectives. Balance the need for rapid evidence generation with methodological rigor. What We’re Looking For Required Advanced degree in a relevant field (PhD preferred) — e.g., health services research, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, health economics, clinical research, or a related discipline Demonstrated experience designing and leading applied research studies independently, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications Familiarity with AI/ML evaluation methodologies in healthcare settings Experience working with claims data, EHR data, or clinical operations data Strong understanding of health economics concepts including cost-effectiveness analysis, total cost of care modeling, and value-based care frameworks Ability to communicate findings clearly to both scientific and business audiences Comfort operating in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment where speed and rigor must coexist Preferred Prior experience in digital health, health tech, or a clinical AI company Existing relationships with academic medical centers or health services research groups Awareness of regulatory and payer evidence landscapes in digital health Background collaborating with actuaries or health plan analytics teams Familiarity with clinical trial design, pragmatic trials, or real-world evidence generation Why Doctronic This is a rare opportunity to expand the evidence base for a company that has already validated its AI clinical systems and is operating them at scale.
