Job Description Job Details Job Title: General Manager Job Code: GENMGR Department: Various Departments Location: Multiple Locations Reports To: Director of Distribution & Logistics or Chief Operations Officer FLSA Classification: Exempt EEOC Classification: Executive/Senior Level Officials and Managers Salary Grade: Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes No Job Summary The primary responsibility of the General Manager is to supervise and manage daily facility operations, emphasizing strategic planning to ensure sustained sales expansion and robust financial performance aligned with the company's vision, strategy, culture, and objectives. The Manager's duties involve formulating a growth-oriented business strategy and guiding a team to implement it effectively. Key areas of emphasis include comprehensive profit and loss management, capital accountability within the business segment, sales strategy development, inventory and production oversight, shipping coordination, vendor relations, and supervision of on-site warehouse and office staff. Essential Duties * Establishes the strategic direction to enhance business unit profitability and oversees staff to implement this strategy effectively. * Achieves or surpasses predetermined financial objectives and budgets. * Develops, establishes and implements regional and national sales and marketing plans. Supervises the activities of regional sales managers and manufacturer representatives. * Collaborates with the sales and marketing team to create, oversee, and monitor the outcomes of sales initiatives, marketing campaigns, catalogs, brochures, pricing materials, packaging designs, and website visuals and content. It is imperative to guarantee compliance with UL and DLC product standards. * Management of the Distribution Center and office support personnel. Collaborates with senior management and human resources to oversee employment processes such as recruitment, progressive discipline, performance evaluations, and promotions. * Oversees employee performance management, training, and development. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements Required * Bachelor’s Degree in related field or an additional 5 – 7 years of experience in lieu of degree * 7 – 10 years of experience leading a fast paced, high growth, high volume electrical and or lighting distribution center, logistics, or transportation environment * Strategic planning experience with full profit and loss responsibility, a proven track record managing a business division with sales, production, and marketing teams. * Intermediate experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) * Strong negotiation skills, executive presence and leadership skills, adept listening skills, and financial acumen * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all employee levels including executive management. * Valid Driver’s License Preferred Key Competencies Inter-Relationships Consistent interaction with hourly production/distribution team members, senior management, operational staff, and corporate support (Purchasing, Supplier Management, Marketing, and Finance). May interact with outside vendors, third party truck drivers or other distribution channel personnel. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Work Environment This position works office setting (heated and cooled) within in a distribution or manufacturing work setting with minimal temperature control and multiple dock doors and semi-functional warehouse management system. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.
