Full Description

Company Overview DITA Strategies, Inc. is a premier boutique consultancy specializing in high-end Information Architecture (IA) and content strategy. Led by internationally recognized expert Amber Swope, we help global organizations transform their technical documentation into scalable, data-driven assets. We specialize in the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) standard, providing our clients with the transactional framework necessary to design, manage, and deliver critical content across multiple platforms and languages. At DITA Strategies, we don’t just write manuals; we build the structural foundations that allow information to be reused, localized, and future-proofed for the next generation of technology. Job Summary We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Information Architect to join our consulting team. In this role, you will act as a bridge between business requirements and technical execution. You will work closely with client stakeholders to analyze their existing content ecosystems and design sophisticated, structured models that optimize content reuse and delivery. This is a role for a systems-thinker who enjoys deconstructing complex information problems and creating elegant, scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities • Architectural Design: Develop and document flexible, scalable Information Architectures (IA) for clients implementing or optimizing DITA-based systems. • Content Modeling: Design DITA specialized models, define metadata strategies, and establish taxonomies that support advanced search and retrieval. • Client Consultation: Lead discovery workshops to identify business pain points, evaluate process maturity, and define the strategic roadmap for structured content. • Migration Strategy: Analyze legacy content and develop comprehensive migration plans to transition unstructured data into valid, semantic DITA XML. • CCMS Optimization: Collaborate with partners to implement and configure Component Content Management Systems (CCMS), specifically specializing in tools like Tridion Docs. • Mentorship & Training: Provide expert coaching to client teams, empowering them to maintain and evolve their own information models post-implementation. RequirementsTechnical Skills • DITA Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of the DITA XML standard (1.2/1.3/2.0), including topic-based authoring and inheritance. • Tool Proficiency: Mastery of XML editors (such as Oxygen XML Editor) and experience with enterprise-level CCMS platforms. • IA Fundamentals: Proven ability to create site maps, wireframes, and data flow diagrams that represent complex information hierarchies. • Standard Knowledge: Familiarity with the DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT) and publishing transforms (XSL-FO, CSS). Experience & Education • Background: 5+ years of experience in Technical Communication, Information Architecture, or Content Strategy. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field. • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating content models, metadata schemas, or successful large-scale migration projects. Professional Attributes • Analytical Mindset: The ability to see the "big picture" while maintaining rigorous attention to detail. • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, with the ability to explain highly technical architectural concepts to non-technical executive stakeholders. • Adaptability: Comfortable working as a third-party expert in diverse corporate environments, from tech startups to legacy manufacturing firms. Pay: $3,900.00 - $4,400.00 per month Benefits: • Commuter assistance • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid parental leave • Parental leave Work Location: In person
