JOB PURPOSE Leads the development and maintenance of best-in-class solutions for assigned product group. Includes systems analysis and development. Primarily responsible for ensuring delivery, team talent management and roadmapping. The Software Engineering Manager for the Vertical Brands product development group at DICK’S Sporting Goods will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of our private brand product line across both hardlines and softlines. This leader will oversee a team of 6+ talented software engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a mix of custom software applications and SaaS packaged solutions. The manager will ensure that all software initiatives align with business objectives and contribute directly to the expansion and success of our vertical brand offerings. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Management and Design teams, fostering a collaborative environment where cross-functional alignment drives the delivery of high-quality, innovative software solutions. You will be responsible for team development, talent management, and establishing best practices that empower your team to deliver results that make a real impact for our Athletes and Teammates. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6+ software engineers working on both custom and SaaS-based applications supporting private brand growth. Partner with Product Management and Design to translate business requirements into effective software solutions for the Vertical Brands group. Drive technical excellence by establishing efficient processes, encouraging innovation, and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development. Oversee project delivery from concept to deployment, coordinating resources and managing priorities to meet deadlines and quality standards. Support the continuous improvement of team skills and capabilities through ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities. Digital Strategy/Transformational Projects Execution Manage and deliver end-to-end digital programs and initiatives, leveraging agile and design-thinking principles to drive sustainable implementation. Digital Talent Development Develop digital training and development programs to meet identified needs; run leadership development programs to enable personal transformations on digital. Digital Vision and Strategy Conceptualize elements of digital strategy/digital-enabled business change projects. Develop approaches to programmatically deliver successful digital innovation engagements. Project Management Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues. Quality Develop new methods, tools and programs for quality assurance. Lead developmental initiatives or programs within an area of expertise. Budgeting Contribute to the development of budget plans and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior teammates. Information Security Lead in detecting and analyzing cybersecurity incidents including attacks, breaches, and identified vulnerabilities and remediate any security gaps in line with the security incident management procedure. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits.
