The Program Director will create, implement, and manage the sound, the brand, and the standards of Sactown Sports through all distribution points in order to reach and exceed goals for on-air and online audiences, revenue, and profitability. You will meet the company’s goals by maximizing Nielsen ratings and digital audience metrics, supporting the company’s sales and finance teams, and responsibly managing the company’s resources. You should have a strong understanding of PPM, know how to interpret various kinds of research, understand how to use social media and the web to benefit your brand, know how to coach talent, have great relationships in the sports community, and understand how to be a great leader and motivator with your team. Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion. This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Sacramento office location. What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to: Lead and coach on-air talent and digital content teams Manage and lead all aspects of the Sactown Sports brand, including on-air execution, talent, imaging, community profile, digital assets and social media. Work with radio and digital teams to ensure product components (digital, talk) complement one another. Partner with Market Manager and other key leaders to support and attain local and company goals, including ratings share and revenue goals. Work collaboratively with sales, marketing and promotions to ideate, develop and execute revenue generating promotions and events that build the Sactown Sports brand. Drive Sactown Sports social and digital media assets to maximize engagement and revenue. Establish rapport within the community and develop events to increase Sactown Sports reach and profile. Prepare and operate within annual expense budgets. Ensure operation of station in accordance with FCC regulations and policies. Select, hire, develop, and appraise Sactown Sports programming personnel in a manner that helps them maximize their potential and their contribution to the company and our platforms. Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Strong knowledge of local sports teams, preferably Sacramento Kings, San Francisco 49ers and Giants Minimum of 3 years’ experience in media content programming Proven experience in building top performing media properties Proven experience in coaching and development of team Thorough understanding of Nielsen PPM ratings and analysis Knowledge and understanding of sophisticated market research including perceptual studies, focus groups and testing with the ability to analyze the data and make programming decisions Thorough knowledge of FCC regulations Demonstrated ability to think both tactically and strategically Proficient in using Zetta2Go Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan Previous experience coaching and developing on-air talent to a level consistent with station’s image and brand Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills Maintain a valid driver's license and proven ability to safely drive personal vehicle without exposing company to liability risks Prefer bachelor degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent experience as well as broadcast news media experience Working knowledge of the audio equipment necessary for on-air broadcasts Experience with Adobe Audition or similar audio editing software, preferred Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Capable of managing multiple projects and teams on an on-going basis Able to tailor programming content for a variety of platforms Strong understanding of the current digital and social media landscape, including creating content for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion. Compensation Range $80,000 - $115,000 This range spans multiple levels of this role. Compensation will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
