The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses. This position is with the Workers' Compensation Division (WCD). WCD administers, regulates, and enforces the laws and administrative rules governing the Oregon workers' compensation system. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Here’s what you will do: As the Modernization Program Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the Modernization Program Manager especially in the areas of contract administration, quality management, deliverable review, project scheduling and other duties as assigned to support the Modernization program, project(s) and change management initiatives. Here’s what you need to qualify: Minimum Qualifications: Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis OR An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis OR An equivalent combination of education and experience Requested Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills - to communicate clearly and concisely with a diverse audience Strong customer service mindset - demonstrate a commitment to assisting internal teams and users, as well as external stakeholders and following issues through to resolution Flexibility and resiliency - ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where processes, expectations and requirements change frequently Willingness to learn/taking initiative - demonstrated experience learning new policies, procedures and processes; demonstrated initiative to identify opportunities for program team process improvement, communication or other areas Strong organizational skills - ability to manage workload, assigned tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment balancing overlapping timeframes and multiple high priorities Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills - ability to thrive in a team environment; building trust and relationships with modernization team members, program sponsors, division team members and managers, agency partners, and various external entities Application information: A resume and cover letter are required for this job posting. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range. The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate.
