Qualifications: Education and Certification • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university • Master’s degree preferred • Master Math Teacher Certificate preferred • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned Experience • Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience in an elementary school setting Special Knowledge and Skills • Deep understanding of mathematics pedagogy • Success as evidenced by student results in the area of mathematics • Deep understanding of current mathematics Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties: • Implement appropriate compensatory, intensive, or accelerated instructional services for at-risk students in mathematics that enable the students to perform at grade level at the conclusion of the next regular school term. • Serve at-risk third-fifth grade students who did not perform satisfactorily on an assessment administered to the student under Subchapter B, Chapter 39, and who has not in the previous or current school year subsequently performed on that instrument or another appropriate instrument at a level equal to at least 110 % of the level of satisfactory performance on that instrument. Additional Responsibilities and Duties: • Completes individual assessments per AIP (Acceleration Improvement Plan). • Maintains documentation/records as required at the state, district or campus level for MTSS and HB1416. • Serves as a resource person for administrators, classroom teachers, parents and students to improve the instruction and achievement of mathematics. • Provides for own professional growth by attending demonstrations, in-service courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. as approved by the building principal/district Elementary Mathematics Coordinator. • Participates in on-going study to stay abreast of best practices in teaching mathematics. • Models and demonstrates classrooms lessons to improve students’ mathematics performance through instructional coaching as time permits. • Disaggregates assessment information and studies its implications for instruction. • Communicates to the building principal and Elementary Mathematics Coordinator any mathematics program concerns. • Provides staff development as requested by the building principal/district Elementary Mathematics Coordinator. • Serves as district liaison to district elementary mathematics initiatives. • Participates in staff and curriculum meetings at building and district level. Other Related Duties: • Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures. • Participates in professional development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. • Performs other duties as assigned.
