Overview DecisionPoint seeks an E-EFMP API / Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure and scalable APIs, middleware components, system integrations, and authentication flows supporting the E-EFMP application suite within a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role supports secure data exchange, interoperability across systems, and consistent integration patterns that align with enterprise architecture and security policies. The E-EFMP API / Integration Engineer works closely with software developers, architects, cloud engineers, cybersecurity teams, and product stakeholders to ensure integrations are reliable, compliant, and optimized for performance. Duties & Responsibilities The E-EFMP API / Integration Engineer will: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integration services supporting E-EFMP applications. Implement middleware logic, data exchange flows, and system-to-system communication patterns. Build secure authentication and authorization flows, including OAuth2, token-based access, and SSO integration. Support data transformations, ingestion, and integration workflows across enterprise systems. Troubleshoot integration failures, cross-system communication issues, and performance bottlenecks. Assist with versioning, lifecycle management, and schema updates for E-EFMP APIs. Ensure all code meets DoD secure coding and Zero Trust–aligned security expectations. Participate in code reviews, integration design discussions, and architecture reviews. Support automated API testing and integration validation. Maintain API documentation, interface specifications, and integration diagrams. Participate in Agile ceremonies and support sprint-based delivery. Qualifications Clearance Requirement Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. Education (Required) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience (Required) Minimum 6 years of experience in API development, backend software engineering, or system integration. Experience developing secure REST APIs and integration endpoints. Experience working with authentication systems and identity protocols. Experience troubleshooting complex integrations and backend communication issues. Experience supporting enterprise applications or federal IT environments. Technical Knowledge (Required) Strong proficiency with REST API development, schema modeling, and JSON. Understanding of authentication/authorization protocols such as OAuth2, SAML, and JWT. Experience with middleware, integration platforms, and backend communication layers. Knowledge of secure coding practices and DoD cybersecurity expectations. Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and API documentation standards. Technical Knowledge (Preferred) Experience with AWS GovCloud integration patterns or cloud-native API services. Familiarity with GraphQL, asynchronous messaging, or event-driven integrations. Experience with microservices, containerized workloads, and service meshes. Certifications Required: CompTIA Security+ Preferred: ITIL v4 Foundation AWS Developer or Architect certification Integration engineering or API-specific credentials Skills Excellent problem-solving skills across complex backend and integration issues. Strong communication skills for cross-team coordination and documentation. Ability to translate mission needs into technical integration solutions. High attention to detail and commitment to secure, maintainable, and scalable API design. Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, cloud, and cybersecurity teams in a fast-paced mission environment.
