Overview DecisionPoint seeks a Cloud Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale cloud migration strategy, planning, and execution for IL5 AWS GovCloud environments supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This senior architect defines architecture patterns, evaluates source and target environments, guides modernization decisions, and oversees migration sequencing and technical runbook development. The Cloud Migration Architect collaborates with cloud architects, cybersecurity teams, COOP/DR personnel, data architects, platform engineers, and multiple application teams to ensure migrations are secure, efficient, compliant, and aligned with long-term modernization strategy. This position is fully remote. Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.** Duties & Responsibilities The Cloud Migration Architect will: Lead migration strategy, architecture design, and end-to-end planning for IL5 cloud workloads. Evaluate source environments (on-prem, legacy cloud, hybrid) and map dependencies to target AWS GovCloud architectures. Develop migration runbooks, detailed cutover plans, rollback procedures, and validation steps. Collaborate with Cloud Architecture, Cybersecurity, COOP/DR, API/Data, and Application Engineering teams. Oversee migration sequencing across applications, databases, integrations, and shared services. Conduct readiness assessments, gap analyses, and risk evaluations for migration activities. Ensure migration designs align with IL5, RMF, STIGs, and Zero Trust requirements. Work closely with COOP/DR teams to align migration steps with redundancy, failover, and continuity needs. Lead troubleshooting for migration blockers, performance bottlenecks, and environment inconsistencies. Support modernization decisions such as refactoring, replatforming, or redesigning legacy components. Produce architecture documentation, migration diagrams, dependency maps, and planning artifacts. Provide technical leadership to engineering teams during migration execution windows. Participate in architecture review boards, change control processes, and stakeholder readiness briefings. Qualifications Clearance Requirement Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. Education (Required) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, DevOps Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience (Required) Minimum 10 years of experience in cloud architecture, migration engineering, or enterprise IT modernization. Experience designing and leading cloud migrations to AWS or AWS GovCloud. Experience developing migration runbooks, cutover plans, and dependency mappings. Experience coordinating large, multi-team technical migrations in secure federal or DoD environments. Technical Knowledge (Required) Strong understanding of AWS GovCloud architecture, landing zones, networking, IAM, and IL5 cloud services. Knowledge of migration patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor, replace) and modernization strategies. Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, Zero Trust, and DoD cloud security requirements. Understanding of COOP/DR alignment for cloud migrations. Knowledge of automation tools, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), and CI/CD integrations. Technical Knowledge (Preferred) Experience with database migrations, data synchronization, or ETL-based transition strategies. Familiarity with container orchestration (EKS/ECS) or serverless migration patterns. Experience with application dependency mapping and event-driven architectures. Certifications Required: CompTIA Security+ ITIL v4 Foundation AWS Cloud Certification (Associate or Professional) Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect – Professional CGRC, CISSP, or equivalent senior cybersecurity certification Cloud migration specialty certifications Skills Strong leadership and ability to guide complex enterprise migrations. Excellent communication and coordination skills across engineering, security, and mission teams. High attention to detail in runbook development and dependency analysis. Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities during migration execution. Ability to manage risk, resolve blockers, and ensure smooth cutovers.
