$5000 - 8000 a year
Description: At Daybreak Health, we’re building the future of youth mental health care. We partner with 150+ school districts and all major health plans to deliver high-quality teletherapy to kids and families. Backed by Y Combinator, Lightspeed, and Union Square Ventures, we’re scaling fast — and AI is at the heart of how we’ll reach the next level. This summer, we’re looking for engineering interns who want to apply their computer science skills to real problems in mental health. You’ll work closely with our product and clinical teams to: Build prototypes that apply AI/ML to clinical workflows — think triage, screening, progress tracking, and personalization. Explore LLM-powered tools that make therapy more accessible for families and easier for clinicians to deliver. Analyze behavioral health datasets (structured + unstructured) to surface insights that improve care quality and efficiency. Ship code that helps real users — not “toy intern projects,” but features and experiments that matter. What we’re looking for: Current CS/EE/Math/AI students (undergrad or grad) with strong coding fundamentals. Experience in Python and/or modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, HuggingFace). Curiosity about mental health, health tech, or social impact — you don’t need prior domain knowledge, just excitement to learn. Bonus: experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, or data engineering. Why this internship is different: Work at the intersection of AI + human impact — every project is tied back to helping kids get care. Small team, high ownership. You’ll work directly with founders and senior engineers. YC startup vibe: fast iterations, tons of learning, and the ability to point at something in production at the end of 10 weeks. In-person, San Francisco, Summer 2026 (we’ll be alongside other YC companies running their intern programs here).
