Full Description

Job Summary: Ensures all correspondence has appropriate postage and is mailed daily. Receives and answers the majority of debtor, creditor, and attorney calls and emails and enters detailed Forum notes. Assists Case Administrators and Case Management as needed. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Mail Correspondence: a. Ensures all outgoing mail has appropriate postage and ensures all mail is sent out on a daily basis. b. Handles all returned debtor mail, inputs address changes in Trustee’s system, and files Trustee’s notices of new debtor addresses on CM/ECF. Writes or emails debtor’(s’) attorneys for correct addresses if needed. c. Prepares and mails payoff letters and pay history reports to debtor(s) upon request. d. Mails Chapter 13 Final Report and Accounts and Trustee Notice of Completion letters to debtors. 2. Telephone duties: a. Receives the majority of telephone inquiries from debtors, creditors, attorneys, and bankruptcy court personnel. b. Makes payment arrangements with debtors whose cases have been petitioned for dismissal. c. Answers telephone calls and assists debtors with questions/concerns they may have regarding their cases or directs the call to the appropriate case administrator or manager. 3. Receives and responds to all emails sent to general Inquiries email box after review of each case. 4. Completes internal audits of case filed after the bar date. Compares documentation contained in the Trustee file with documents filed at the Court to ensure that claims, attorney fees, and funding were entered and administered correctly. Prepares notices of allowed claims and serves the debtors and their attorneys. 5. Receives and distributes office supplies to office staff. 6. Assists Case Management/Case Administrators as requested. 7. Files Proposed Orders to pay Trustee and mails them to employers once signed by the judge. 8. Performs other duties as requested. Job Qualifications: 1. This position requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of general high school, although post-secondary education is preferred. 2. An ability to learn select sections of the Bankruptcy Code and the Local Rules for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina. 3. An ability to become familiar with the general operational procedures of the United States Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Office, District of South Carolina. 4. Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize the Chapter 13 BSS software and Court ECF applications. 5. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work productively with all levels of staff within the office, US Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Office and attorneys representing debtors and their staff and financial institutions, as well as debtors and pro se creditors.
