Full Description

Position Summary: Cuisinart’s Advanced Concepts Team is building the next generation of kitchen technology—and we are seeking a highly driven Product Design Co-Op (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering) to help shape it. You will work on breakthrough appliance platforms - translating real consumer needs into scalable, manufacturable engineering solutions. From motor systems and thermal architectures to sensors and embedded controls, you’ll help define how tomorrow’s kitchens perform. We’re looking for a technically strong, creatively curious engineer who wants to solve meaningful real-world problems—and build products that live in millions of homes. What You’ll Do: Architect the Future Contribute to early-stage product architecture for new appliance platforms. Develop mechanical and electrical concepts that balance performance, cost, reliability, and user experience. Explore motor systems, heating technologies, power electronics, sensors, and control strategies. Build & Prove Create CAD models, engineering layouts, and proof-of-concept builds. Prototype, test, and iterate—translating hypotheses into functional validation. Conduct performance benchmarking and competitive teardowns to identify white-space opportunities. Engineer with Consumer Insight Collaborate with Industrial Design and UX teams to ensure seamless integration of form, function, and usability. Translate consumer pain points into measurable engineering requirements. Identify opportunities for performance differentiation and technical storytelling. Collaborate at Scale Partner with global engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams. Participate in design reviews and innovation checkpoints. Present technical findings with clarity and confidence. What You’ll Gain: Direct experience working inside a global innovation pipeline. Ownership of meaningful engineering challenges—not shadow work. Exposure to cross-functional product development from concept through validation. Understanding of how engineering decisions impact cost, supply chain, performance, brand, and retail strategy. Mentorship from experienced engineering and product leaders. Who You Are: Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Junior, Senior, or Graduate level). Strong fundamentals in mechanical systems, thermodynamics, electronics, or embedded systems. Proficient in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD); familiarity with PCB design, circuit analysis, or firmware is a plus. Hands-on builder who enjoys prototyping, testing, and solving real-world constraints. Curious, analytical, and energized by innovation—not just execution. Passionate about consumer technology and how engineering elevates everyday experiences. Environmental Factors: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time. We currently operate on a hybrid schedule; candidate must be willing to come into the office 4 days a week with Friday being a work from anywhere day. Why Cuisinart: Cuisinart sits at the intersection of performance, design, and food culture. Our Advanced Concepts team pushes beyond incremental improvements to define what the modern kitchen can become. As a Product Design Co-Op, you will not just observe innovation—you will help engineer it.
