Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – Onsite + Remote) Duration: March 2026 – August 2026 (Extension Possible) Hours: Up to 1,200 hours Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST Candidate Location Requirement: Candidates must currently reside in the Austin, TX area Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to support enterprise application development and enhancement initiatives within a large public-sector technology environment. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing a complex Java-based enterprise system, including updates to business logic, user interface components, reporting capabilities, and system data models. The selected consultant will collaborate with development teams to support application enhancements, troubleshoot defects, and ensure high-quality code delivery across multiple environments. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Java, J2EE development, Spring-based architectures, and RESTful services, along with the ability to support applications throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Key Responsibilities Application Development & Enhancement • Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and J2EE technologies • Implement updates to business logic, user interface components, and system functionality • Enhance reporting capabilities and extend application data models as required • Support ongoing application enhancements and maintenance activities System Analysis & Solution Design • Analyze system workflows, data usage, and business requirements to design technical solutions • Investigate and troubleshoot application issues and performance concerns • Prepare system specifications, development standards, and programming solutions Testing & Code Quality • Perform unit testing using JUnit and participate in peer code reviews • Maintain high standards for code coverage, testing practices, and application security • Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement appropriate fixes API & Integration Development • Develop and maintain RESTful web services using the Spring framework • Implement enterprise integrations and ensure secure service communication • Support transaction management and security using Spring AOP features Reporting & Data Management • Write and optimize SQL queries for relational databases • Support enhancements to reporting tools and data extraction processes • Assist with analytics and reporting solutions where required Collaboration & Environment Support • Work closely with developers, analysts, and operations teams across multiple application environments • Participate in development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting • Provide on-call support when necessary for application operations Required Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in Java application development • Strong experience with: • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using Java • J2EE platform development • Spring Framework and RESTful web services • SQL development for relational databases • Spring AOP (transaction management and security) • JUnit testing and unit test development • Experience supporting applications across multiple development and testing environments Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Angular or modern UI frameworks • Experience developing enterprise reporting solutions • Experience with Crystal Reports • Experience with Power BI reporting and analytics • Experience working in complex enterprise or government environments
