Position Summary The Global Business Line Manager (GBLM) position is responsible for the overall commercial management of the Westlock Controls product portfolio. They will be responsible for developing the short and long-term strategies for the portfolio, including development of the winning business model, and actively monitor and drive the market level pricing, appropriate cost targets, quality requirements, and lead time requirements of the product line. The GBLM will also contribute to cross functional New Product Development teams and support in the execution of taking products from ideation to launch. The GBLM will work closely with the Marketing team and identify new opportunities in industries where the Westlock products can be successfully applied. Principle Duties (includes, But Is Not Limited To) The development of the Westlock Controls products global short and long-term strategies, and for their implementation by region, including: Business Model Impact and Growth Strategy • Responsible for business model development and supporting its execution, including demand input for the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process • Target growth/new business development initiatives and opportunities • Responsible for identifying product portfolio gaps • Participate in evaluation to determine whether to develop new products internally or acquire through acquisition or international sourcing (branding) • Responsible for development and launch of new products, using the Crane New Product Development (NPD) process • Provide input on key process applications in order to identify new opportunities where our products can be utilized, both in current applications and in new applications being developed • Working with Sales Managers and Engineering to define product release requirements, marketing strategy, product positioning, and target customers Price / Quality / Delivery Targets • Responsible for Orders, Sales, and Margins of the product portfolio • Responsible for the attainment of the product goals by cost, quality and delivery; execute product cost strategy in conjunction with operations • Responsible for development and implementation of product line pricing and profitability by customer and order types • Price List definition and implementation • Monitor competitor marketing and pricing activities and develop counter-strategies • Project win/loss analysis • Assists the Operations teams with technical and commercial information requests • Evaluate customer and distributor surveys to maintain a pulse on the served market’s perception of our performance relative to price, quality and lead time Communication • Provide input to the appropriate marketing communications program for the product lines including literature, training, advertising, trade shows, etc., to drive consistent above market level brand growth and profitability • Contribute to the development of product-related training materials • Ensures training for both internal and external employees and channels • Be seen as a visible, vocal leader helping to define and communicate the company’s overall strategy • Actively communicate product commercial issues to ensure that the company remains competitive and meets customer needs • Participate in and provide leadership on our communication programs to improve the communication and order processing efficiency with our channel partners Annual Planning • Assisting and supporting the development of strategic and annual operations plan for the Westlock Controls product lines • Interfacing with sales leadership (Director, Regional), channels, and customers to determine: • Annual sales plan (targets) by region • Projects and prospects • Product application, technical and service support Essential Qualifications / Experience • College degree or equivalent educational experience, in a technical or business related subject e.g. engineering, manufacturing, business systems or marketing • 5-7 years experience in product management for a technical product • Excellent presentation skills • Customer focused • Integrity and ethical qualities of the highest standard • Proficient in MS Office • 25% to 30% travel will be required based on customer needs Preferred Qualifications/Experience • Masters in Business Administration • Experience in Industrial product marketing or channel management experience • Oil & Gas / Power / Chemical industry experience • Knowledge of different sales strategies • Experience with product life cycle management • Trained in operational excellence or Lean Manufacturing, and the use of related tools Salary range: $175,000 to $190,000. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
