Position will close 11/02/2025 POSITION SUMMARY To supervise and coordinate the Craig Hospital laboratory and transport department. Oversee the day-to-day and regulatory operations of the laboratory and transport teams. Supervises personnel and facilitates the collection, analyzing, and interpretation of lab results. Responsible for setting and overseeing operating budget, hiring, scheduling and ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available. Ensures proper quality control as well as regulatory requirements within the lab and Point of Care system. Maintains relationships with Swedish Medical Center (SCM) radiology department and partners with them to ensure patient safety and fluidity of patient care between the two systems. The manager maintains liaison and communication with the Common Spirit and SMC Laboratory system, SMC radiology department, Craig Hospital Nursing, Respiratory Director and Medical Staff. POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider, Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) preferred, but not required. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or relative science field required. • Experience: At least 2 years of experience with non-waived testing and at least 1 year supervising non-waived testing is required. • Skills & Abilities: Excellent organization and customer service skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly while meeting established deadlines. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Ability to determine or interpret work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency. Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, dependability, and strong attention to detail both mechanically and technically. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. General knowledge of extracting information from database systems preferred. Advanced supervisory, team-building, conflict resolution, budget management and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Possess above average problem-solving skills, judgment, and flexibility. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Directly oversee, supervise and coordinate the actions and responsibilities of the transport and lab personnel, to include education, coaching, training and performance management. • Build and establish a strong working relationship with Saint Anthony's/CommonSpirirt Lab(s) and be responsible for lab issue resolutions. • Analyze daily workflow processes and implement changes to improve departmental efficiencies. • Maintain phlebotomy certification and competencies for both phlebotomy and transport personnel. • Maintain patient records using the EHR system to enter, document specimen received data, and to locate specimens and test results; ability to follow up on any problems locating samples or results. • Generate and monitor laboratory reports, including quality reports from other facilities. • Provide waive test QC, and other lab/IC performance improvement initiatives as requested. • Achieve and maintain compliance with all regulatory and lab certification requirements. • CLIA licensing (lead during CLIA site visit). • Point of Care cartridge compliance and regulations. • COLA accreditation • Maintain and ensures department compliance with all Infection Control policies and practices. • Evaluate possibilities for the Point of Care System and its potential. • Maintain a relationship with SMC radiology department and works collaboratively to troubleshoot problems. • Coordinate and lead all departmental meetings. • Ensure ongoing education and competencies provided for the department, ensuring staff adherence to standard operating procedures and safety standards. • Ensure patient /family rounding to monitor satisfaction with the department. • Coordinate and monitor contract services, as necessary. • Maintain a working relationship with SMC radiology department and be responsible for issue resolution. • * This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
