Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a caring and community focused environment? At Covenant Community Care, we are a faith based non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center serving the communities of Detroit in our clinics that offer integrated medical, dental and counseling healthcare services. We are seeking new team members to join our dental clinics. Specific to Dental Hygienist only- we are offering a sign-on bonus of $1000, payable after 90-days of employment and successful completion of applicable sign-on bonus details. Job Description Our dental hygienist is responsible for providing preventative dental care to patients. They work closely with dentists to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Reporting to the Dental Manager, and under the supervision of dentists, the hygienist is responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental clinic, ranging from patient care to administrative duties to laboratory functions. The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following skills: Flexible: Ability to adapt to changing situations and schedules. Dependable: Consistently reliable and punctual. Teamwork: Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment. Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients. Organization: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks. Responsibilities: • Clean teeth and examine patients for signs of oral diseases. • Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity preventing agents to arrest/prevent dental decay. • Examine gums, using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease. • Feel and visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease. • Feel lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer. • Take and develop dental x-rays. • Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques. • Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments. • Assist dentists with procedures as needed. • Maintain patient records and ensure that they are up-to-date. • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow. Required Qualifications: • State licensure as a dental hygienist. • 2+ years of experience in a dental environment • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications: • Current CPR certification. • Spanish/English bilingual is a plus; but not required Position Criteria: • Predictable, consistent, and reliable attendance • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and float between sites when needed • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures Job Type: Full-time At Covenant we offer our employees: • Comprehensive Benefit program • Vacation, Sick, and Personal time (VSP) • Paid holidays • 401K • Continuing Education allowance and time off • Life insurance, long term and short term disability • Loan repayment for up to $50,000 through the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) • Loan repayment as a Federally Qualified Health Center All candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check, TB test, and education and licensure credentialing as part of the hiring process.
