Full Description

About Cousin Labs Cousin Labs is a creator-led growth agency that builds creative engines for consumer brands. We work with some of the fastest-growing companies in health, wellness, tech, and consumer services, delivering high-impact creative rooted in strategic insights, platform-native creative, and narrative craft. About the Role We’re looking to expand our roster of freelance and part-time video editors who specialize in paid social and UGC-style editing. This is a fast-paced, detail-driven role ideal for editors who know what performs on Meta, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts—and can cut engaging narratives that stop the scroll. You’ll be part of a nimble team working closely with producers, strategists, and creators to bring raw footage to life with tight storytelling, clever visual cues, and performance in mind. We’re not just making pretty edits. We’re making content that converts. Editors who succeed in this role combine a strong creative POV with the ability to execute quickly, iterate based on feedback, and adapt to platform trends and client needs. What You'll Do Editing & Creative Execution • Edit paid social video ads (typically 15–45 seconds) using raw UGC, motion graphics, and platform-native design elements. • Incorporate text overlays, VO, sound design, and rhythm in line with platform trends and brand tone. • Cut to performance—optimize intros, pacing, and visual flow to boost engagement and click-through rates. Collaboration & Communication • Work closely with producers and strategists to interpret briefs and deliver on creative direction. • Accept and incorporate internal and client feedback across multiple rounds of revisions. • Ensure files are properly named, exported, and uploaded to the right folder structure. Adaptability & Performance Awareness • Stay current on platform-specific editing styles, meme formats, audio trends, and visual hooks. • Be open to pivoting your editing approach based on performance data or strategic shifts. You'll thrive in this role if you are: • Skilled in Adobe Premiere (or similar) with fast turnaround time and strong attention to detail. • Familiar with the anatomy of a high-performing paid ad—hook, problem, benefit, CTA. • Comfortable editing in a variety of styles: lo-fi UGC, TikTok trends, testimonial mashups, etc. • Scrappy and adaptable—you’re just as comfortable in CapCut or Splice as you are in Premiere when speed and simplicity matter. • Responsive, communicative, and comfortable working asynchronously across time zones. • Excited to edit content that’s both creatively fun and performance-minded. Logistics • Type: Freelance, project-based (with potential for ongoing work) • Location: Remote (U.S. preferred) • Availability: Must be responsive to Slack/email and able to meet deadlines within 10 AM–5 PM ET working hours when needed • Reports To: Producer / Creative Director • Rate: $50-$75/hr depending on experience
