What You'll Be Doing Wake County Information Technology is seeking an inquisitive Data Analyst to work under the direction of the Data & Analytics team, is looking for an inquisitive data analyst to work under the direction of the Data & Analytics team while directly supporting the Public Health Department. In this role, you will help leverage data to drive informed decision-making, provide insights for optimizing business and clinical operations, and support strategic planning efforts. You will serve as a thought partner to the Public Health Department team, translating complex data into actionable insights. As part of this mission-driven environment, you will contribute to efforts that protect and improve community health by aligning data strategies with the department’s goals of promoting wellness, preventing disease, and ensuring equitable access to essential services. Primary responsibilities include: Develop and publish Power BI reports, dashboards, and other data driven reports Work closely with the departmental business analysts and subject matter experts to understand the requirements and translate that into a reporting solution Provide clear, insightful interpretation of available data Follow established guidelines and best practices for analytics development and data quality Assist with user testing and troubleshooting Recommend and create visualizations based on analytics best practices For positions with a remote work option, all Wake County Government remote workers must reside in one of the following states or districts: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Virginia. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field. Three years of experience in data science and analytics. Five years of experience in data science or analytics may be substituted for the combined education and experience requirements. Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) 2+ years of experience hands-on development of reports and dashboards using Power BI 2+ years of experience with data analysis and visualization 2+ years of experience writing SQL queries Intermediate or better proficiency in DAX Working knowledge of Power Query Power BI Certification a plus Experience with SQL, Excel, and at least one programming language (Python or R) Familiarity with public health systems, health outcomes analysis, or government services is highly desirable How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
