Requisition Title Student Emergency Planning Assistant Close Date 1 February 2026 Contract Type Temporary - Full Time Location BARRIE, CA (Primary) Job Description 4 months contract (May - August) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist Manager and Education & Promotions Coordinator with elements of the County emergency management program, including, but not limited to: • Assist with annual update of the municipal Emergency Response Plan • Review operational requirements of primary and alternate Emergency Operations Centres and recommend enhancements as appropriate • Provide planning support for County annual emergency exercise • Development of public education materials to support National Emergency Preparedness Week and participate in EP Week activities • Assist with annual update of the corporate Business Continuity Plan • Comply with provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act • In the event of a community emergency, provide support to the Emergency Operations Centre as required • Perform other duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Must be a registered full-time post-secondary student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year • Awareness of municipal government emergency planning issues • Students studying at the graduate level in programs such as Master of Emergency Management or Master of Municipal Planning an asset • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Word processing, spreadsheet and database application skills preferred • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Varied office experience an asset • Must have a valid driver’s license • Word processing and spreadsheet application skills preferred • Criminal Records Check with that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire required Salary Grade $18.89 - $22.48 Union Non Union The County of Simcoe thanks all applicants for their interest in this opportunity, but please note that only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
