Position Purpose Reporting to the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, the Executive Communications Manager delivers a wide range of executive communications, including speeches and presentations, member and volunteer communications, published columns and other content, and contributes to CASE’s media relations strategy and response. The work raises member and stakeholder awareness, visibility, and understanding of CASE programs, initiatives, and impact through the voice and leadership of the President and CEO with an end goal of accomplishing CASE’s strategic objectives. The primary responsibilities of this position include the coordination, creation, and delivery of executive communications contributing to CASE’s overall communications and positioning. The incumbent will engage, coordinate and collaborate with key staff around the world, primarily with the marketing and communications staff in the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Division and the director, Donor Experience. Essential Functions The core functions of this position include but are not limited to the following: Communications Strategy and Implementation • Deliver high-quality executive communications content highlighting CASE’s work and mission in a fast-paced environment • Prepare PowerPoint and other presentations on a range of advancement topics • Write a variety of written content including columns, newsletters, correspondence, report forewords, articles and opinion pieces • Inform, support, and execute social media content and strategy for the President & CEO • Research and write philanthropic proposals and related content to advance CASE’s philanthropic goals • Manage relevant web pages for the Office of the President • Prepare media responses to inquiries and drive executive media strategy in collaboration with key communications and marketing staff • Stay informed of news and trends related to global education and use that knowledge to inform strategy • Coordinate and track thought leadership engagements • Review communications for impact and continuous improvement Fiscal Management/Budget/Judicious Use of Resources/Administrative Responsibilities • Exercises fiscal responsibility in the utilization of all CASE resources. • Tracks President & CEO engagement in CASE membership data base • Uses CASE databases to inform content and executive briefings Liaison and Reputation Responsibilities • Work cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions • Under leadership of the Chief of Staff, works alongside staff from marketing and business development to support and deliver executive communications • Liaise with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge. • In keeping with the CASE Values Statement, ensure that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and products. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor. Education and Experience: • Five (5) years minimum increasingly higher-level communications experience in the charitable, public or private sector is required, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training required. • Demonstrated in-depth professional knowledge and experience in strategic and executive communications, non-profit communications, media relations. Knowledge of education and the charitable/philanthropic sector are a plus. • An interest in and an understanding of educational advancement across the regions in which CASE works. • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred. • A global mindset is essential and global experience is a plus. Skills and Abilities: • Exceptional writing and editing with the ability to develop content for a variety of audiences and purposes, including presentations, scripts, talking points, news articles, and press releases • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external clients at all levels, and to exercise judgment, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters • Must have technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with customer relationship databases • Experience using content management systems • Familiarity with project management and related tools • Media relations experience is helpful • A demonstrated interest in advancing education to transform lives and society • An understanding and interest in engaging with a broad range of cultures and countries • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to lead and/or participate on teams • Strong project management and detail-orientation skills that provide the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines • A pro-active and can-do attitude, even when working under pressure and with all levels of staff Management reserves the right to review and revise this document at any time.
