Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit child and family services organization seeking an Interim Not For Profit Accounting Manager to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The organization is fully remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in Texas, but open to exceptional talent from Colorado or other remote locations. Title: Interim Not For Profit Accounting Manager Location: Remote (Texas strongly preferred; open to Colorado and other remote locations for exceptional candidates) Conversion Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Requirements: Not for Profit experience Key Responsibilities: • Own and manage the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness • Prepare/review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules • Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper coding of revenues/expenses across programs, grants, and cost centers • Partner with internal bookkeeping/AP/AR staff for clean, complete data entry • Oversee billing and financial reporting for state, federal, and local contracts/grants • Monthly/periodic invoicing to agencies and funders • Reconcile program data with financial records • Ensure allowability, allocability, and proper coding of costs • Provide financial guidance to program leaders (non-finance staff) on budgets, spending, and billing • Lead audit preparation, including documentation and auditor requests • Support Form 990 and other compliance filings • Maintain processes for internal controls and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) • Prepare quarterly board financial reports (P&L and related schedules) • Provide monthly financial updates and ad-hoc analysis to leadership • Help maintain a predictable rhythm for financial reporting and communication • Collaborate with program leadership, internal bookkeeper, and HR/payroll staff • Assist with pay scale review and compensation benchmarking • Participate in vendor and insurance negotiations • Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows and systems Qualifications: • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced nonprofit environment • Ability to translate financial information for non-financial staff • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks-type systems), bill.com, and payroll systems (Rippling is a plus) • Prior experience in nonprofit accounting, grant/contract billing, and audit preparation preferred IND123
