CBG is actively seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and results-driven Manager, Software Engineering with deep expertise in cloud application development and a forward-thinking approach to AI adoption. As our engineering team evolves, we are looking for a leader who not only understands the nuances of building scalable, intelligent tools in cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, but who also actively leverages AI to augment productivity, improve quality, and accelerate delivery. The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of experience optimizing software development lifecycles, streamlining cloud infrastructure, and exploring AI’s practical application across the full stack. This is a critical role that will influence our cloud strategy and guide our engineering organization into the AI-powered future of healthcare technology. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY This role serves as a full-stack technical leader and strategic partner across cloud engineering, data platforms, AI enablement, and application development. The Manager, Software Engineering will lead the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across cloud infrastructure, ETL pipelines, databases, and intelligent applications. In addition to overseeing multiple concurrent projects, this role is expected to champion architectural consistency, data engineering best practices, and full lifecycle software development while embedding modern AI/ML capabilities into engineering workflows and product solutions. This leader will actively mentor engineers in both foundational and emerging technologies, including generative AI and cloud-based automation, and will collaborate closely with the Director and business partners to align solutions with enterprise strategy and future-state goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Architect and implement high-quality software products in line with company goals and industry best practices. • Design, review, and improve cloud-native architectures (primarily AWS) across application, ETL, and data services. • Oversee the development and optimization of ETL pipelines, ensuring accuracy, performance, and security of data flows across platforms. • Lead efforts to scale and maintain database platforms including PostgreSQL, Redshift, and DynamoDB, while ensuring robust data modeling and access patterns. • Conduct code reviews and architectural reviews to maintain high standards for software, infrastructure, and data quality. • Mentor and coach engineers across front-end, back-end, data, and DevOps specialties, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Cybersecurity, and DevSecOps to ensure performance, security, and compliance goals are met. • Automate and enhance build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes across environments using modern CI/CD toolchains. • Drive adoption of standards for observability, service health, and error recovery across microservices and applications. • Ensure all software and data systems are well-documented, maintainable, and auditable. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated leadership responsibilities. • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying applications on major cloud platforms, particularly AWS. • Strong experience with ETL development using tools like SnapLogic, AWS Glue, or custom-built data pipelines in Python. • Expertise in managing and optimizing relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redshift, DynamoDB). • Solid understanding of data modeling, indexing strategies, and performance tuning for large-scale data systems. • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Java, or SQL. • Experience with serverless and containerized workloads using services like Lambda, ECS, Fargate, and Docker. • Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs. • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI). • Working knowledge of secure coding practices and infrastructure-level security (IAM, encryption, network controls). • Experience with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue is a plus. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical topics to non-technical stakeholders. • Proven track record of developing and mentoring high-performing engineering teams. • Certifications in AWS or other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Data Engineer) are a strong plus. • Agile/Scrum team leadership experience with an emphasis on iterative delivery and cross-functional collaboration OTHER CONSIDERATIONS • US Citizens and Green Card holders only (We will not sponsor). • Able to guide team in technical direction. • Demonstrated problem solving techniques. • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
