Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical Construction About the Role We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to serve as the administrative lead supporting our Project Management team on mechanical construction projects. This is not a clerical or entry-level role. The Senior Project Engineer operates with independent judgment and plays a direct role in contract compliance, change management, and billing accuracy. Administrative decisions in this role have a real impact on project risk, margin protection, and cash flow. What You’ll Do Project Administration & Document Control • Interpret and work directly from construction contracts, specifications, and project manuals • Track and manage RFIs, recognizing many lead to Change Order Requests (CORs) • Maintain accurate RFI logs and response tracking for Project Managers • Maintain complete, current project records in Procore (or similar systems) • Support continuous improvement of administrative systems and processes to reduce errors and rework Change Management & T&M • Manage Change Order and Time & Material (T&M) workflows • Review and validate backup documentation prior to submission • Maintain change logs and ensure alignment between RFIs, field records, PM input, and billing • Coordinate with Project Managers to support timely and defensible change submissions Project Financial Administration • Support AIA progress billings • Track approved, pending, and projected changes • Manage stored material documentation • Coordinate billing information with Accounting • Support lien waivers, retention tracking, and closeout billings (administrative support only) Contract & Compliance Support • Assist with project contract setup and compliance tracking • Manage bonds, insurance certificates, and public-work documentation • Maintain audit-ready project files Project Coordinator Oversight • Assign, review, and validate work performed by the Project Coordinator • Set priorities and workflows to ensure accuracy and consistency • Serve as the escalation point for administrative questions or issues What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of construction project administration experience (mechanical preferred) • Strong understanding of construction contracts, RFIs, change orders, and T&M documentation • Experience with AIA billing and public / plan-spec projects • Experience overseeing or mentoring junior administrative staff • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software • Highly organized, detail-driven, and comfortable working independently Why This Role Matters Strong project administration protects margin, reduces risk, and ensures the company gets paid accurately and on time.
