Senior Platform Engineer – API Gateway & Health Plan Integrations (Level 3) Location: Remote, US Sponsorship: Not available for this position About the Role Our client is a leading healthcare technology company whose integration platform connects millions of providers with thousands of health plans nationwide. Their API Gateway platforms are the backbone of that connectivity, powering secure, high-volume integrations across the U.S. healthcare ecosystem. This role bridges two critical functions on a growing engineering team: - API Connections: Establishing and managing connections with health plan partners, including OAuth, PKI, certificates, and integration setup. - Platform Support: Maintaining and evolving the core API Gateway platform, including upgrades, patching, deployments, and operations. You'll join a 7-person team as its 8th member, playing a key role in the team's long-term strategy of unifying integration and platform support into a single, more streamlined function. What You'll Do Integration Work - Set up and maintain integrations with health plan partners - Configure and troubleshoot OAuth authentication, PKI/certificates, and secure API connectivity - Work directly with external partners to resolve connectivity issues, including live troubleshooting calls Platform Engineering - Manage and support enterprise-scale API Gateway platforms - Support platform upgrades, patching, and deployments - Troubleshoot infrastructure and connectivity issues - Contribute to reliability practices (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets) and post-incident reviews - Write clear technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational runbooks Cloud & Infrastructure - Operate within AWS environments, primarily EC2, Load Balancing, and Secrets Manager - Use Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and repeatable deployments - Kubernetes/EKS exposure is a plus; the team anticipates moving in this direction, though it's not a primary tool today What You Bring Required - 4-6 years of experience in IT systems delivery, operations, or support, ideally in healthcare or other high-transaction environments - Hands-on experience managing or supporting an API Gateway platform at scale - Strong understanding of OAuth, PKI, certificates, and secure API integration standards - Working knowledge of AWS (EC2, Load Balancing) and Terraform - Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to lead technical troubleshooting calls and work directly with external partners - A hands-on orientation: this role is built for someone who actively does the work, not one that's primarily managerial or theoretical Strongly Preferred - Experience with Tyk API Gateway (other enterprise gateways such as Kong, Apigee, MuleSoft, or IBM DataPower will also be considered) - Go development experience - Kubernetes/EKS knowledge - Background integrating with health plan or payer systems Nice to Have - JavaScript - SaaS experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems - Experience mentoring junior engineers Team & Schedule - On-call rotation approximately 1 week in 3; the on-call engineer typically owns deployment windows, operational incidents, and priority support tickets - Two release windows per week, generally overnight (roughly midnight-8:00 AM), including occasional Sunday deployments - Fully domestic team, no offshore handoff or follow-the-sun coverage - Current focus areas: integration tickets, new partner onboarding, and connection setup/troubleshooting Welcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
