The Senior ERM Specialist contributes to the credit union’s risk management strategy and supports the development and execution of the ERM framework. This role includes facilitating risk assessments, ensuring regulatory alignment, and providing risk insights for strategic initiatives.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years in banking or risk-related fields. Professional certifications and experience with GRC platforms are also required.

This role supports the development and execution of the ERM framework, facilitates risk assessments across business units, and ensures alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will bring deep risk expertise, strong collaboration skills, and a proactive mindset to help foster a mature risk culture within a growing credit union environment. Responsibilities: ERM Framework & Governance Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the ERM framework. Facilitate risk governance activities, including risk committee meetings and reporting to senior leadership. Assist with implementation, design and maturity of Connexus' business continuity, disaster recovery and incident response programs. Assist with development and implementation of enterprise-wide data and document retention program. Provide second line of defense support and risk oversight across all business lines including: Technology - IT, systems, information security/cyber, data/document management, AI, model risk, user access, automation, digital banking and fraud, system configurations. Operations - operational loss, transaction risk, lending, quality control and loan servicing, complaints, insurance, accounting, marketing, payments and money movement, and branch and member services. Risk Identification & Assessment Lead enterprise-wide risk and controls assessment (RCSA) and issues management programs. Collaborate with business units to identify and evaluate emerging risks and escalate based on potential impact. Advise on risk mitigation strategies and monitor implementation progress. Provide risk insights to support strategic initiatives, capital planning, and operational decisions. Risk Monitoring & Reporting Develop and maintain enterprise risk dashboards and key risk indicators (KRIs). Prepare risk reports and narrative for executive leadership and the board of directors. Assist with administration and oversight of the organizations Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) tool. Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote risk awareness and accountability. Conduct training and workshops to enhance risk management capabilities across the organization. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure ERM practices align with relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Assist in developing and maintaining department policies, procedures, and job aides. Assist in development and maturity of enterprise-wide regulatory exam management program. Position Requirements: This position is Remote. Bachelor’s degree in a business or information technology or commensurate work experience is Required. 5+ years of combined experience in banking, risk or related field is Required. Demonstrated understanding of risk governance frameworks, methodologies and financial institution regulatory requirements including risk and controls identification and remediation is Required. Professional certifications such as: FRM, CRMP, MBA, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP. Experience working with GRC platforms, such as Quantivate, NContracts, or Archer.
