Build and maintain data integrations and dashboards to support campaign operations and reporting across multiple departments.
2-5 years experience in data analysis or related fields with strong Airtable skills, data integration, dashboard building, and understanding of data ethics.
Role Summary The Data Scientist / Data Analyst plays a mission-critical role in building the digital infrastructure that keeps every department connected, transparent, and accountable. This role ensures that data from fundraising, communications, field operations, volunteers, and events flow seamlessly into the campaign’s Airtable (or equivalent) ecosystem and is transformed into clean, insightful dashboards used by leadership for real-time decision-making. Key Responsibilities 1. Data Pipeline & Integration Management • Build and maintain integrations between Airtable and other tools in the campaign’s tech stack, including Google Workspace, CRM systems, fundraising tools (e.g., CallTime.AI), and communication platforms. • Automate data syncing, deduplication, and validation across systems to ensure that volunteer data, donor logs, event attendance, and communications metrics remain accurate. • Work closely with the Tech Support & Automation Lead to maintain system reliability and fix integration errors quickly. 2. Data Visualization & Dashboard Development • Build live dashboards tracking weekly KPIs across departments, including: money raised, volunteer growth, social engagement, press hits, and event turnout. • Develop intuitive reports and visualizations in Airtable Interfaces, Google Data Studio, or Notion dashboards that leadership can use for strategic planning. • Collaborate with the Director of Systems & Strategy and Chief of Staff to ensure all dashboards support cross-department transparency and weekly reporting rhythms. 3. Data Quality, Governance, & Ethics • Ensure all data handling aligns with the campaign’s ethical commitments: protecting donor and volunteer information, securing internal data, and upholding confidentiality. • Enforce data hygiene practices, including clean schemas, standard naming conventions, error monitoring, and role-based access permissions. • Support the Data & Compliance Officer by ensuring FEC-related data is tracked accurately and stored only within approved systems. 4. Cross-Department Analytics & Insights • Partner with Chief of Staff to translate raw data into actionable insights. • Generate weekly summaries of performance metrics, highlighting bottlenecks, growth trends, and opportunities for optimization. • Support Field & Organizing teams by analyzing district-zone volunteer activity and outreach performance. • Provide data support for communications analytics, including email performance, social media metrics, and digital engagement trends. 5. Systems Building & Process Improvement • Help architect new systems/data integrations, forms, dashboards, and reporting flows inside Airtable. • Identify process inefficiencies and implement data-driven automation that saves time for frontline teams. • Support onboarding by ensuring new team members understand where to find, log, and report data properly. Required Skills & Experience • 2–5 years experience in Data Analysis, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Analytics Engineering. • High proficiency with Airtable, including scripting, Interfaces, automations, schemas, and multi-table relational design. • Experience integrating tools such as Notion, Google Sheets, CRM platforms, or fundraising/donor-tracking tools. • Strong skills in data cleaning, ETL pipelines, and automation (Airtable scripts, Zapier, Python, etc.). • Strong experience building dashboards and data visualizations for non-technical users. • Understanding of data ethics, confidentiality standards, and handling sensitive information. • Ability to work cross-functionally with communications, finance, field, and operations teams. Preferred Skills • Experience working on political campaigns, non-profits, or community organizations. • Familiarity with FEC reporting structures or donor-tracking systems. • Experience with GIS or zone-based mapping (helpful given the campaign’s 21 district zones). • Knowledge of digital analytics (email CTR, conversion rates, attribution, etc.). Success Metrics This role is successful when: • All digital systems sync cleanly with minimal manual work required. • Weekly KPIs are reliably updated and accessible via an executive dashboard. • Field and Finance teams can see their impact clearly and adjust strategy accordingly. • The campaign maintains a unified, trustworthy data backbone that turns every action into measurable momentum. Culture & Expectations • Uphold campaign values: transparency, discipline, respect, courage, and data integrity. • Maintain confidentiality of all donor and volunteer information. • Communicate clearly with department leads and meet weekly reporting expectations. • Approach systems-building with creativity, structure, and people-centered design. Compensation • This role may begin as a volunteer. • Mission-driven contributors who demonstrate strong impact may be considered for advancement into paid or senior roles as the campaign scales. However, at this time, we’re really focused on looking for people that want to volunteer and work hard for a campaign with a mission aimed at bettering lives within underrepresented communities. We strive to be better, do better, and leverage accurate data to support our growth as people and supporters of those underrepresented. We’re looking for that central person or central people to help us streamline our growth and impact through the data we generate.
