Full Description

THE ROLE The Vice President of Development & Growth – Alternative lodging will be responsible to grow brands in new and existing markets. This includes refining and executing the growth strategy, identifying growth opportunities in new markets, leading the negotiations with real estate and capital partners, identifying new capital partners, negotiation of brand agreements, and supporting the design and construction of properties. Success for this leader will be measured by the successful execution of the strategy to achieve our alternative lodging growth targets. Growth Strategy - Responsible for the refinement and execution of the outdoor hospitality growth strategy in new and existing markets. By working with external and internal partners. Market Analysis & Selection - Assess new locations for possible offerings identify and recommend top target markets for development. Complete market studies to understand demand levels and our competitive positioning. Work with developer on acquisition of properties. Business/Financial Results - Responsible to execute the strategy to achieve the financial targets. Brand - Evaluate, enhance, and execute the brand strategy and value impact of the Alternative Lodging offerings. Partner with external distribution partner. Relationship Management - As Vice President of development and growth this leader will manage relationships with investment partners, the board, external distribution partners, and internal and external support providers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Planning & Execution • Lead long-term strategic planning for alternative lodging growth, aligning with broader organizational goals and market trends. • Develop multi-year roadmaps for brand expansion, including milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Innovation & Product Development • Identify emerging trends in alternative lodging and incorporate innovative concepts into new developments. • Collaborate with design and operations teams to create differentiated guest experiences that align with brand identity. Development Oversight • Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle—from site selection and feasibility to design, construction, and opening. • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet brand standards and guest expectations. Capital Strategy & Investment • Structure and negotiate joint ventures, leases, and other financial arrangements to support growth. • Build and maintain a pipeline of capital partners and investors aligned with strategic objectives Performance Optimization • Establish KPIs for new developments and monitor performance post-launch to ensure ROI and guest satisfaction. • Conduct post-mortem analyses on completed projects to identify lessons learned and improve future outcomes. Stakeholder Engagement • Represent the brand at industry conferences, investor meetings, and public forums to build awareness and credibility. • Cultivate relationships with local governments, tourism boards, and community stakeholders to facilitate development. Sustainability & ESG Integration • Integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into development strategy and execution. • Champion sustainable building practices and community engagement initiatives. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS The following requirements are critical qualifications for the successful candidate: • 10+ years’ experience in creating and executing development and growth strategies across multiple geographically disperse locations. • 10+ years’ experience identifying and creating partnerships with investment partners within the capital markets. • BS Degree or commensurate experience (MBA or equivalent experience highly desired) • Ability to travel up to 50%. • Ability to work across a matrixed organization with multiple key stakeholders in a collaborative manner • Proven ability to manage and develop a team
