Provide expert electrical engineering oversight and review for large mining infrastructure projects, manage stakeholder and contractor interfaces, ensure compliance with codes, and lead risk and quality control activities.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, 18+ years engineering experience including 15+ years in mining or heavy industrial projects, P.Eng licensure preferred, strong knowledge of electrical codes, and proven leadership in Owner's Engineer roles.
(Internal Title: Engineering VI) Review and critically evaluate feasibility study deliverables relating to power supply, substation design, mine and plant power distribution, and electrical infrastructure Provide Owner's perspective and guidance on power supply options, interconnection studies, power balance, and electrical loads Liaise with the local utility provider in Arizona to track and influence interconnection agreements, timelines, and permitting. Support procurement strategies relating to electrical equipment and systems (transformers, switchgear, substations, overhead and underground distribution, etc.) Act as the primary electrical engineering interface between the Owner and the EPC/M contractor Review design packages and engineering deliverables prepared by the EPC/M to ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and industry standards (NEC, IEEE, CSA, NESC, NFPA, as applicable)Provide independent technical review on electrical designs including substations, motor control centers, drives, power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems Identify risks, gaps, or opportunities for value engineering and report findings to the Project Director Monitor construction methodologies, quality control processes, and electrical installation works carried out by contractors Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) for major electrical equipment Support commissioning planning and execution, ensuring electrical systems are fully tested, reliable, and safe for operation Verify that electrical systems integrate effectively with plant control systems and meet project performance and reliability requirements Provide troubleshooting expertise during ramp-up to resolve electrical reliability or performance issues Document lessons learned for future projects and provide operational handover to owner's operations and maintenance teams Engage in the practice of professional engineering which: Requires the application of engineering principles Is an act of planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising, reporting, supervising, or managing any of these acts Involves the safeguarding of life, health, property, economic interests, the public welfare or the environment Comply with regulations and guidelines for the practice of professional engineering in the State or Province of licensure including but not limited to professional responsibility, the Engineer's duty to report, , due diligence, report writing, giving opinions, communications, confidential information, data gathering, and site investigations Apply expert-level engineering knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements in the area of expertise Implement and direct the specialty engineering services on the project from inception through to completion Advise on the daily work and control the delivery of the project portfolio per project plans Ensure goals are met including customer satisfaction, and engineering team member performance Oversee the interface between client, consultants, and all associated service providers at all levels of the engagement model Direct the implementation and management of changes and interventions to ensure engineering service goals are achieved on the project or program Facilitate project focus and functional meetings for engineering initiatives Manage senior-level customer relationships Ensure there is a communication plan in place for meeting with stakeholders (including senior management and sponsors) to make the exchange of project-related information easy and transparent Identify and analyze risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans Review and ensure adherence to the engineering services delivery plan, scope, schedule, milestones, budgets, and KPIs and address issues with corrective actions as appropriate Control the delivery of functional engineering progress reports, proposals, and presentations to various audiences including the project team, senior executives, key stakeholders, and Comtech Operations Evaluate and ensure the accurate interpretation of the functional scope of the assignment and manage and support any scope change negotiations Set and adjust, if required, the functional engineering services expectations for the project or program while delegating and managing deliverables with the functional engineering team Build and maintain a positive, high-performing team culture with an openness to constructive challenge, continuous improvement, implementation of lessons learned, and an overall 'right-first-time" mindset Nurture a project environment that is inclusive, and diverse and celebrates our differences Clarify and resolve internal quality control checks and issues for the project Working Conditions Hybrid - The work location for this role will include a mix of working remotely, onsite at a client or in an Accenture office or center.Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng, PE, or equivalent) in Canada or the USA strongly preferred (or eligible to register) Experience: Minimum of 18 years of experience in Engineering Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience in mining, heavy industrial, or major infrastructure projects Prior experience acting as Owner's Engineer/Representative, or direct EPC/M oversight, on large capital project(s).
