NOW HIRING: ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT SHIFT: Mainly Day Shift, Every Other Weekend Complete Care at Berkshire 5501 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA Job Summary: The Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a long-term care facility by organizing and facilitating recreational, social, and therapeutic activities. This position contributes to residents' well-being and promotes a positive and engaging living environment. Responsibilities: • Activity Planning: • Collaborate with the Activities Director to plan and organize a variety of activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of residents. • Develop monthly activity calendars outlining scheduled events and programs. • Facilitation of Activities: • Lead group and individual activities, including games, crafts, music, and outings. • Assist residents in participating in activities, adapting as needed to accommodate individual abilities and preferences. • Social Interaction: • Foster a sense of community and social interaction among residents. • Facilitate group discussions, social clubs, and other opportunities for residents to connect with one another. • Communication: • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming activities and events. • Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordination and support for facility-wide programs. • Personalized Care: • Get to know residents on an individual basis to tailor activities to their preferences and needs. • Adjust activities based on resident feedback and changing interests. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Previous experience in a similar role or a strong passion for working with seniors. • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and implementing engaging activities. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Empathy and patience in working with individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities. • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and departments. • Basic computer skills for activity planning and documentation.
