Compassion & Choices is seeking a Social Media Specialist to help advance our advocacy, medical outreach and education efforts across the country. This role is responsible for managing and growing our social media presence, creating engaging content, and developing campaigns and strategies to increase brand awareness and drive engagement across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social media trends, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze performance metrics to optimize our online presence. This is a full-time, remotely-located, paid position reporting to the Director, Digital Content Strategy. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience. This position will primarily be responsible for: Social Media Management: Manage day-to-day national social media accounts, ensuring consistent and on-brand messaging. Schedule and post content, interact with followers, and manage social media inboxes. Actively engage with the online community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions. Build and maintain relationships with partners and supporters. Provides direction, guidance, and support for regional and affinity groups in partnership with internal staff members (digital/AO/SMEs). Monitors platforms for PR risks and brand management. Strong emphasis on social media SEO. Systems Management: Manage social media platforms, digital advertising platforms, social media analytics systems and platforms, and content management tools Content Creation & Strategy: Develop and execute social media strategies and campaigns to align with C&C’s goals and objectives. Create engaging, high-quality content (post copy) for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. Ensures all content fits the tone and brand of C&C. Updates and monitors the editorial calendar. Identify Opportunities for Utilizing New Platforms and Partnerships: annually test social media pilot projects, i.e., work to introduce and expand our brand on new social media platforms. Identify like-minded partners on these channels and engage with their content. Foster relationships with online communities, influencers, and partners to build awareness and collaboration opportunities. Researches and follows relevant brands, organizations, individuals, government agencies, and politicians in the end-of-life movement. Campaigns & Promotions: Plan and execute social media campaigns to increase brand visibility and supporter interaction. Coordinates paid social media promotions. Trend Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to keep the brand’s social media presence fresh and relevant. Creates and maintains training materials, reports, and data analysis as needed. Use data insights to refine strategies and improve campaign effectiveness. Collaboration: Work closely with the communication & marketing, design, and content teams to ensure brand consistency across all social media channels. Participates in vendor management with Director of Digital Content Strategy. Training & Documentation: Train digital staff members and volunteers on social media best practices who manage regional and affiliate channels. Create and update documentation for social media policies, playbooks, training and guidelines in partnership with the director of content strategy and national director of digital strategy. Support of all C&C efforts as requested; including, but not limited to, activities such as identifying prospects, briefing donors, alerting staff of fundraising opportunities, reaching out to donors, participating in phone-athons, etc. Timely and accurate completion of related reports (such as company credit card statements, performance reviews, time cards, etc.). Demonstrates commitment to and active support of C&C’s Diversity & Inclusion program. Travel as required, such as to the C&C Annual Retreat Other duties as required. Required Qualifications (You will be a good fit if you have the following): Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience). Skills: Proven experience in social media marketing, content creation, and community management. Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, tools, and best practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Loomly). Basic graphic design skills (experience with tools like Canva, Photoshop, etc.) is a plus. Ability to analyze data and adjust strategies for better performance. Creative, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to write creative copy. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Knowledge of social media trends, algorithms, and best practices for organic and paid strategies. Experience analyzing and reporting on social media performance metrics. Strong understanding of brand tone, mission, and vision Understanding of marketing laws and accessibility requirements.
