Position Summary Assistant Controller II will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and CDLI Leadership to impact the strategic financial direction of CDLI. Assistant Controller II is the operational leader who is the subject matter expert on Financial Edge, the accounting database software used at CDLI. Assistant Controller II will be responsible for the structure and authorities in Financial Edge so that the Finance team can ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of all accounting functions. Assistant Controller II will also serve as the team lead for external programmatic and financial reporting, working with CDLI leadership to ensure compliance and consistency in presentation. This role requires a high level of professionalism when partnering with leadership peers to evaluate business practices, ensure financial integrity and efficiency, and to ensure the effective operation of internal controls for financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Be the departmental/companywide subject matter expert on Financial Edge. • Serve as the primary point of contact for audits (both internal and external) and tax return preparation. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. • Ensure compliance with programmatic requirements. • Collaborate with CDLI Leadership team to monitor departmental and programmatic performance against budget and to ensure that all programs are fully utilized. • Provide strategic financial guidance to the leadership team to support informed decision-making. • Work alongside Assistant Controller I to ensure timely, accurate, and consolidated financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. • Coordinate the budgeting process with the CFO and Assistant Controller I, including the gathering of necessary data, development of supporting models, collaborating with program managers to develop assumptions, and consolidating and communicating results. • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance. • Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that organizational risks are minimized. • Ensure timely updating of accounting policies and procedures. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred). • 5 years of proven experience as an Assistant Controller or similar role. • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting, and accounts payable/receivable/payroll. • Prior experience at a non-profit organization required. • Proficient in accounting software (Financial Edge a plus), as well as Microsoft Office suite. • Proactive, detail oriented with strong organizational skills; prior supervisory experience required. • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working well with others.
