Overview CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Product Owner to support a Department of Defense (DoD) software development program. The Product Owner will serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, customers, and the Agile development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet mission and operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, demonstrated experience with Agile delivery within a DoD environment, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable user stories and prioritized backlogs. Established in 2001, CommIT is a Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (CVOSB) providing innovative technical engineering and data science services. Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCCS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development. Responsibilities Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to- Serve as the voice of the customer and key stakeholders within the Agile team. Develop, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to align with program goals, user needs, and technical feasibility. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including developers, testers, security engineers, and Scrum Masters—to define requirements and acceptance criteria. Ensure backlog items are clearly articulated, traceable to higher-level requirements, and ready for sprint planning. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and validate delivered capabilities against mission objectives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices and software delivery processes. Develop and maintain documentation, metrics, and reporting on backlog health, velocity, and product progress. Coordinate with the Program Manager and technical leads to manage release planning, risk mitigation, and change control activities. Support compliance with DoD cybersecurity and configuration management standards throughout the product lifecycle. Qualifications Required Experience and Education: 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on Agile software development teams. Demonstrated experience supporting DoD or other federal programs. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and backlog management practices. Experience writing clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile lifecycle management systems. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
