Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Functional Analyst – PeopleSoft. This position works out of the Human Resource Department in McKinney, Texas, reporting to the HRIS/Systems Manager. This is an in-office role, with primary office hours from 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. JOB OVERVIEW The Functional Analyst is responsible for assisting the HRIS team with the support of our PeopleSoft 9.2 HCM, CRM and Dormakaba time collection systems. This includes advanced query creation, data analysis and reconciliation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance testing, and business process analysis and automation. WHO WE NEED: The ideal candidate will have direct functional experience with PeopleSoft HCM, Benefits Administration, Payroll for North America, Time and Labor, and Recruiting including troubleshooting, user acceptance testing, system patches and upgrades as well as have experience creating reports in BI Publisher and extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft database structure and report generation. Those without PeopleSoft experience will need extremely strong critical thinking and computer skills with a basic understanding of relational databases, experience analyzing and reconciling data, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and direct experience using a HRIS (Human Resource Information System) such as WorkDay, ADP, Paycor, Oracle Cloud, Kronos or similar. Candidates must have a professional presence and demeanor, the ability to navigate a highly political environment, a high level of critical thinking, the ability to work independently with minimal direction, follow up on pending items, follow through on assigned tasks to completion with internal and external delays, and perform routine standard tasks consistently and with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. All candidates must have a level of education of an Associate’s degree or higher, as well as three (3) years’ experience in a business environment. JOB DETAILS In this role the Functional Analyst will: • Perform standard recurring system audits. • Complete standard recurring data loads and verify success of loaded data once complete. • Write and produce ad hoc queries as needed for management decisions and public information requests. This requires a high level of attention to detail, critical thinking, using existing system resources to make decisions on how to accurately put together the information, and independent work without errors, including reconciliation of numbers to ensure accuracy of the data pulled. • Write and produce queries to be used for daily tasks by other groups in HR and across other departments. Error on these may impact other groups processes and ability to accurately complete their work including administering FMLA accurately, time reporting issues, and management decisions. • Use of expressions, prompts, unions and left outer joins in queries is required. • Verify and troubleshoot data across integrated systems. • Troubleshoot issues as they occur, investigating whether the issue is replicable in a test database, researching Oracle documentation to determine whether bug reports have been issued related to the item, and whether there are existing documents in the knowledge base on how to troubleshoot or workaround an issue. • Document extensive step-by-step processes for testing modifications. • Test the entirety of the system during upgrades, including verifying work done by other groups once the UAT testing phase has been reached. • Write SQL statements for use in SQL Server to query portions of the system tables and audit data, ensure numbers are as expected, etc • Create nVision reports to include multiple tab outputs, PowerPivots and PowerQueries. • Troubleshoot existing PowerQueries when they fail and make edits to report templates as needed. • Troubleshoot and update Word and Excel BI reports as needed using the PeopleSoft BI Publisher desktop tool. • Research new or not yet implemented system modules as directed to determine whether it will work in our environment, how to configure it for a successful use scenario, needed security updates for the module to work, etc. Document the processes associated with the new feature in a procedure format to provide end users within and externally to HR. Provide training on items as needed. • Verify data loads and that they match the expected number of rows, and that the data totals (such as wage movement amounts) match the expected dollar amount. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies. • Annual review/updates of approximately 100 procedure documents, as well as 50 – 100 mod scripts. • Edit and write Excel Macros and VBA as needed to produce and maintain specialty reports. • Other duties as assigned.
