What You'll Do We’re seeking a skilled Data Specialist (Level 2) to join our growing Data Intelligence Services (DIS) team at Cohen & Co. In this role, you’ll collaborate with various members of the business to analyze business processes, build data solutions, and drive automation that improves efficiency and accuracy. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, work closely with firm leaders, and help shape the future of technology at Cohen & Co. If you’re a developer with a strong computer science background who’s excited to move into a broader data-focused role – balancing process work, project builds, and innovation – this is a unique opportunity to make a difference. Data & Application Development Design and develop analytical models, data pipelines, and business intelligence solutions Build and enhance applications to support Tax and Assurance processes (front- and back-end development) Perform ETL activities, data ingestion, and system integrations (APIs, SQL, etc.) Maintain cloud hosting environments, troubleshoot, and optimize for performance Develop tools to assist in data manipulation, transformation, and automation Process Improvement & Analysis Analyze business workflows to identify automation opportunities and efficiency gains Collaborate with end users and business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions Contribute to the buildout of DIS applications (similar to “Cohen Works”) to support engagement teams Balance ongoing process work with project-based innovation and conceptualization Reporting & Visualization Design and deliver reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using tools such as PowerBI or Tableau Build predictive models and leverage machine learning where applicable Support leadership and engagement teams with insights that drive better decision-making Team & Collaboration Participate in stand-up meetings, discovery calls, and project discussions Work closely with business leaders to deliver high-value outcomes Contribute to team culture by prioritizing collaboration, autonomy, and flexibility Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field 3–5 years of experience in software development, data science, or analytics Strong programming background with experience in Python, SQL, R, C++, or Java Experience with application development (front and back end) and familiarity with agile or iterative development practices Solid understanding of data process automation, data visualization, and reporting Strong communication skills; ability to set expectations, collaborate across teams, and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, or Azure Familiarity with machine learning and predictive analytics Exposure to professional services, accounting, or finance industries is a plus Previous app development experience with a desire to broaden into data and analytics-focused work Location: Cleveland, Akron, or Youngstown, OH; Baltimore, MD; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Denver, CO; Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, PA; Buffalo or New York, NY; Detroit or St. Clair Shores, MI Hybrid work environment Who We Are #LifeatCohen Sure, we like numbers.
