As a Server Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain server infrastructure while collaborating with Healthcare teams. You will also monitor server performance, manage VMware environments, and ensure compliance with security policies.
Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of Windows Server and VMware technologies, along with strong troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with networking concepts and scripting for automation is also required.
As Server Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, implementing, and maintaining server infrastructure. You will be a valued member of the team and work collaboratively with Healthcare teams. In this role, you will: Designing and deploying server systems based on organizational requirements, including both physical Windows servers and virtualized environments using VMware. Installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and virtual machine infrastructure. Monitoring server performance, resource utilization, and security, performing regular maintenance tasks like patching, updates, and security audits. Diagnosing and resolving server-related issues, including hardware, software, and network problems, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime. Implementing security measures to protect server infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security policies and industry regulations. Managing and maintaining VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi servers, creating and managing virtual machines, and implementing solutions like vSAN and NSX. Managing server backups and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of server configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Collaborating with other IT professionals, including network engineers, system administrators, and application developers, to support business operations and ensure smooth functioning of the IT environment. Planning and executing server upgrades and migrations, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. Providing technical support and guidance to other IT staff and users on server-related issues. What you need to have to be considered In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting. Strong understanding and experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi. Experience with virtual server environments, including Hyper-V (if required), and understanding of concepts like virtual machine creation, resource allocation, and migration. Familiarity with server hardware components and their interaction with operating systems and virtualization technologies. Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automation and task management. Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and LAN/WAN. Knowledge of server security best practices, security protocols, and threat mitigation techniques. Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex server-related issues. Salary and Other Compensation Applications will be accepted until August/25/2025. The annual salary for this position is between $49,001– $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
