The Director of Operations is responsible for providing strategic direction and day-to-day leadership across all departments including sales, design, production, and installation. This role ensures operational excellence, team performance, and customer satisfaction while driving continuous improvement and profitability. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management --Manage staffing levels to meet workload and profitability goals. --Supervise, coach, and evaluate staff performance; foster a culture of accountability and teamwork. --Lead daily production meetings and operations reviews to ensure alignment and efficiency. --Promote self-awareness and emotional intelligence across teams to support collaboration and client satisfaction. Operations & Production Oversight --Oversee full project lifecycle from job evaluation, quoting, and scheduling to fabrication, installation, and post-mortem analysis. --Manage ordering of shop materials and inventory control. --Ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of all jobs. --Maintain and update job tracking systems. --Coordinate subcontracted jobs and vehicle maintenance. --Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Project & Job Management --Evaluate incoming jobs and oversee all active projects. --Ensure proper documentation and paperwork for installations. --Monitor KPIs including team utilization, production quality, safety, and project efficiency. --Conduct post-project reviews and cost analysis, especially for large-scale jobs. Sales & Client Relations --Collaborate with the sales team to support business development and client retention. --Review proposals and contracts for accuracy and profitability. --Resolve escalated client issues promptly and professionally. Financial Performance --Achieve invoicing goals. Approve pricing, bids, and major purchase orders. --Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial targets. --Monitor profit margins, labor utilization, and cost control measures. Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement --Participate in company-wide meetings and strategic planning sessions. --Research industry trends and implement new methods and techniques. --Recommend improvements with clear goals and timelines. Qualifications --Proven experience in operations leadership, preferably in a production or installation-focused environment. --Strong understanding of workflow optimization, team management, and financial oversight. --Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. --Ability to learn and implement new technologies and processes. --Familiarity with Corebridge or similar job tracking systems is a plus.
