Description: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The position of Controls Field Technician III is the most senior technician within CLX Engineering. A Controls Field Tech III has mastered the concepts of controls systems and demonstrates the ability to not only work without direct supervision but can lead or direct more junior members of the team when required. Controls Field Technician IIIs are required to travel to clients and work independently troubleshooting and performing basic PLC programming. Ideal candidates are comfortable working in high pressure situations and interact with both external and internal customers to efficiently resolve problems and complete projects. Field Tech IIIs must be able to work effectively with lead Integration Engineers and communicate efficiently with all project stakeholders to ensure the smooth completion of short- and long-term projects. Controls Field Technician IIIs’ work environment may be airports, entertainment or other manufacturing spaces, or our internal Panel Shop. Work tasks range from basic programming to assisting the CLX facility maintain a great, functioning workspace. Controls Field Technician IIIs are an exempt level position reporting directly to the Manager or Director, Manufacturing & Facilities. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Extensive ability to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot issues, and produce electrical prints in design • Extensive ability to create control panels from electrical prints • Ability to provide and execute ideas that make control systems more efficient • Ability to observe systems, locate and resolve issues with control components • Extensive knowledge of electrical and controls devices and their application in systems • Knowledge of safety practices (use of PPE, situational dangers) • Proficient use of hand and powered tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, etc.) • Competent use of electrical testing devices (multi-meters) • Knowledge of common computer software (Microsoft Office, internet, etc.) • Knowledge of professional software used in creating and maintaining control systems (AutoCAD, PLC programming software) and their use in troubleshooting control systems • Other responsibilities as assigned Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent, applied experience • 5 years experience in the electrical field • Excellent communication skills with the ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations • PLC Software (Studio or Logix 5000) or equivalent (i.e., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi) • Ability to drive and have a clean driving record • Ability to work non-standard hours (nights and weekends) • Ability to travel locally with little or no notice • Ability to travel non-locally with notice (up to 30%) • Ability to get a passport and pass a background check • Ability to pass initial and random drug screenings • Present a professional demeanor and appearance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • AutoCAD • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent
