Relevant providers and integrations: MS Teams, Microsoft APIs, Workday, Slack, Google APIs, OpenAI, Anthropic, Promptlayer, Datadog, Github, Segment, Chargebee, Merge We use AI to increase our effectiveness as builders - currently engineers are utilizing a mix of Cursor and Claude Code and on a spectrum between meaningful IDE-based AI-assisted coding to AI-first spec-driven agentic coding workflows. We are open and curious about using AI to increase our effectiveness as builders, and increasingly convinced there are meaningful gains to be had. We balance close collaboration with independent work to get the job done with excellence. Cloverleaf is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to add to our stellar team. This role is responsible for leading and implementing complex software projects within the business and operational environment of a scaling startup. A successful Staff Software Engineer: Possesses exceptional troubleshooting skills and an ability to dig deep to find root cause explanations Exercises excellent technical judgment, but can also connect the technical to business needs and user experience Is a product thinker that cares about user experience and enjoys collaborating with others to design and deliver impact to users What You'll Do: Product Development (70%): Influence product and technical roadmaps and project details alongside other members of the product team. Define and deliver thin, iterative slices of functionality to production, role-modeling and helping to lead the team around direction and delivery of the same. Partner with others on the team, including mentorship, conducting merge reviews, un-blocking teammates, and helping to up-level the team. Write clean, efficient, well-tested code that reflects industry best-practices and internal engineering principles within the context of the existing codebase. Plan and build new work with an eye to improvement of codebase health, operational requirements, and enabling future capabilities. Operational Support (20%): Provide technical support and bug fixes for Cloverleaf software in production Play a role in a rotating support cadence, coordinating with Customer Success, translating the technical to the operational, and troubleshooting as needed. Successfully identify and fix root causes of complex issues. Propose ways that engineering can invest to eliminate toil (i.e., documentation, technical debt resolution, administrative functionality). Team/Organizational Improvements (10%): Staff and Senior engineers are an incredibly influential part of engineering culture and codebase health. A mark of success is impact that transcends day-to-day work by up-leveling team standards, helping teammates improve, bridging across departments, bringing process improvements and other ideas into the product department, and bringing smart or just useful improvements into our codebases.
