Senior Mainframe z/OS Administrator Role Overview We are looking for a highly skilled Mainframe z/OS Administrator with L3-level experience and some exposure to L4 responsibilities. This is a hands-on role focused on managing, configuring, and supporting enterprise IBM z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in z/OS, LPARs, Parallel Sysplex, and associated mainframe products. Relevant Job Titles: System Programmer, System Administrator Please Note • Candidates with experience limited to mainframe operations monitoring (L1/L2) or developer-only roles are not a fit. • Applicants must demonstrate real, hands-on experience with z/OS system installation, configuration, and performance management. • As this position is contract-based and hourly timesheet-driven, we are not offering any benefits for this role. • $73/hr on 1099 or C2C is the maximum we can offer. Key Responsibilities • Administer IBM z/OS operating systems (OS 2.2, 2.3) and supporting mainframe products. • Perform LPAR builds, patching, and ongoing maintenance activities. • Configure, manage, and support Parallel Sysplex environments. • Execute z/OS version upgrades, including applying patches and maintenance fixes. • Install, configure, and maintain ISV products. • Configure and manage z/OSMF (z/OS Management Facility). • Maintain system parameters and PARMLIB members. • Monitor system performance using RMF, SMF, WLM, and related tools; produce reports and recommend improvements. • Troubleshoot and resolve z/OS operating system and product-related incidents. • Demonstrate strong hands-on knowledge of SMP/E, USS, ISV product upgrades, and system administration tasks. • Clearly explain past experience with system programming, upgrades, and administration beyond theoretical knowledge. Required Skills & Expertise • IBM z/OS (OS 2.2, 2.3) • Parallel Sysplex, SMPE, RMF, SMF, WLM • z/OSMF configuration and administration • Strong understanding of System z architecture • Hands-on experience with LPAR builds, patching, and maintenance • ISV product installation and administration • L3-level system programming and administration experience (L4 exposure is a plus) Job Type: Contract Pay: Up to $73.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
