Full Description

Position Overview Climate Systems, LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for estimating the costs of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical installations for construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, cost analysis, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients. Key Responsibilities • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and more) based on project specifications, drawings, and historical data. • Review and analyze project documents, including blueprints, technical specifications, and scope of work to determine project requirements. • Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate bids, and incorporate pricing into estimates. • Perform material takeoffs from drawings to ensure accurate quantities and specifications are accounted for in estimates. • Suggest alternative materials, systems, or methods to meet budget constraints while maintaining the project's functional requirements. • Identify potential risks or challenges in the mechanical design and construction process and account for them in the estimates. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material costs, labor rates, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project details and ensure accurate and timely bids. • Prepare and submit complete bid packages, including estimates, breakdowns, and supporting documentation to clients or stakeholders. • Assist with post-bid activities, such as value engineering, change orders, and project cost tracking as needed. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry. • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC) and their installation processes. • Skills: • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., FAS EST, Bluebeam, Takeoff software). • Advanced knowledge of Excel and other office tools. • Strong mathematical and analytical skills. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Key Competencies • Attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Problem-solving skills and ability to think critically. • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required. Working Conditions • Full-time in office position, Monday through Friday. • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
