The Business Development Manager helps drive state-level growth by identifying opportunities, building relationships with prospective clients, and supporting the pursuit process. This role monitors state-regulatory developments, contributes insights to regional strategy, and applies established industry practices to support successful business development outcomes. Primary Responsibilities Territory & Opportunity Development Generate leads and engage prospective clients within assigned state or territory. Maintain industry connections to stay informed about state utility trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity. Support early pursuit efforts by identifying potential partners and contributing to teaming decisions. Strategy & Market Insight Lead development of state-level growth strategies aligned with regulatory landscapes and market opportunities. Provide state-specific insights to clients and internal teams. Contribute to regional strategy discussions as appropriate. Business Development Execution Apply established BD principles, industry practices, and company standards to advance opportunities. Collaborate with BD Directors, Solutions, and Delivery teams to support proposal development. Participate in client meetings to position the company effectively. Collaboration & Internal Support Work closely with regional BD team members to coordinate opportunity planning and client engagement. Share insights and information that enhance regional forecasting, planning, and pipeline management. Education, Experience & Skills Experience in the energy efficiency industry required. 6–9 years with a BA; 4–7 years with an MBA Strong understanding of: Core BD principles and practices State-level market dynamics and regulatory environments Industry standards and typical utility program models Compensation Range $97,600.00 - $146,400.00 Currency USD Type Salary Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD/technology), for example.
