Job Title: SBA BDO Specialist Location: Dallas, TX Department: SBA/USDA Lending Reports to: SBA/USDA Department Manager Overview: The SBA BDO Specialist (Loan Officer) is responsible for originating, structuring, and submitting SBA 7(a) and USDA loans, ensuring compliance with all internal policies and SBA SOP/USDA requirements. This role includes loan origination, eligibility determination, pre-screening, packaging, and ongoing client support. The BDO also collaborates with internal teams, participates in training, and develops business through networking and referrals. Key Responsibilities: Loan Origination & Client Management: • Originate SBA 7(a), SBA Express, 504, and USDA loans. • Prepare prescreen analysis and MEMO/write-ups for loan requests. • Determine borrower eligibility per SBA SOP/USDA guidelines. • Conduct site visits and provide collateral documentation. • Communicate with applicants and team throughout the loan process. • Maintain active loan pipeline; update reports regularly. Collaboration & Documentation: • Work closely with SBA Credit Analysts, Underwriters, and Closing Specialists. • Collect, review, and submit required loan documentation. • Assist in loan packaging using platforms like nCino. • Maintain COI/referral source tracking and support marketing/event planning. Compliance & Training: • Ensure adherence to federal and internal compliance standards. • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information. • Complete all required compliance and training (e.g., BSA/AML). • Attend SBA/USDA department training (e.g., NAGGL, NADCO). Business Development: • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and clients. • Attend conferences, networking, and social events (may include evenings/weekends). • Identify new lending opportunities and potential borrowers in the market. • Support conventional loan officers with SBA/USDA loan structuring and training. Qualifications: Education & Experience: • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 2 years of experience with SBA 7(a) loan programs. • Familiarity with SBA SOP and regulatory standards is required. Skills & Proficiencies: • Strong knowledge of SBA 7(a) and general understanding of USDA RD One and 504 programs. • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to analyze prescreen financials and prepare credit memos. • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, databases; familiarity with nCino preferred. • Ability to independently manage pipeline and client relationships. Supervision & Decision-Making: • Works under general direction; minimal supervision. • Expected to use independent judgment in loan structuring and relationship management. • May supervise a small to moderate team depending on project scope. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: • Regular use of computers and standard office equipment. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs. • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions (during site visits or events). • Requires frequent use of a personal or company vehicle to attend client meetings and events (classified as a safety-sensitive position). Other Responsibilities: • Maintain compliance with Centennial Bank’s Code of Ethics and Vision/Mission. • Assist internal teams, customers, and resolve SBA-related inquiries. • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by management. Impact and Accountability: • Job has a moderate to large financial impact ($10MM to $50MM range). • Decision-making directly influences loan outcomes and customer relationships. • Regular contact with customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners. • High level of responsibility for maintaining compliance and accurate documentation. Preferred Certifications: • SBA 7(a) and 504 Training (NAGGL, NADCO) • Familiarity with SBA Express/LOC preferred.
