Full Description

Position Summary: City Therapeutics is looking for an innovative and results-driven Senior Scientist/Early Program Lead to join our Biology team. The successful candidate will lead an early-stage program from initial screening through the identification of a clinical development candidate for evaluation in humans. As City Therapeutics is both a drug development and platform company, this role is central to our success in delivering transformative therapies. Please note this is a full-time 5 days a week onsite opportunity. Key Responsibilities: Drive lead finding activities including screening in vitro and in vivo based on mRNA and protein levels. Analyze and interpret large datasets and large screening sets to efficiently narrow and prioritize candidates through the screening funnel, accelerating program timelines Lead cross-functional biology, pharmacology, and safety studies. Qualifications: PhD with 2+ years of drug discovery/ lead finding industry experience M.Sc. with 7+ years of academic/ industry/ drug discovery/ lead finding experience Track-record of success via publications and/ or clinical drug candidates Assay development: Developing tools to measure target expression with high specificity/sensitivity and consistency (eg, ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry, western blot, RNAseq (NGS) workflows). Demonstrated expertise with cancer cell lines, primary human hepatocyte cell lines, hematopoietic cells. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex assay workflows resolve technical challenges. In vivo models: Develop tools and characterize/ develop complex rodent disease models. Experience with siRNA or gene editing technologies, particularly in high -priority project environments. Ability to incorporate platform learnings into a fast-moving program. Broad expertise across multiple tissue types or disease areas. Must have a high scientific acumen with the ability to adapt and learn new biology on the fly by leveraging literature to address key questions and troubleshoot. Additional Skills: Detail oriented with a proven track record of maintaining organized and accurate documentation. Significant and frequent benching experience is preferred. Motivated team player that is comfortable working cross functionally and collaboratively with dynamic teams to achieve a common goal quickly and efficiently. The ideal candidate prioritizes data integrity, approaches challenges with an open-mind, and embraces negative data –using strong adherence to scientific principles to guide the ultimate success of the program. Compensation: The base salary range provided reflects our current estimate of what we anticipate paying for this position. Your actual base salary will be based on several factors, including relevant skills, experience, internal equity, relevant education or training and market dynamics. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual cash bonus and equity compensation.
