Plan, organize, and supervise district and staff activities related to parks and athletic facilities, including maintenance, inspections, event coordination, budgeting, and public communication.
Associate degree or equivalent with 5 years experience including 1 year supervisory experience, knowledge of parks maintenance or athletics, and ability to obtain a Texas Class C driver’s license.
Duties include planning, organizing, and supervising the activities of assigned district and staff; overseeing the operations, inspection, maintenance and repairs of multiple parks or athletic facilities; coordinating support of special events with other City divisions, departments and community organizations; and assisting with preparation of presentations given to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and City Council. Duties also include participating in procurement, budget preparation and administration; maintaining records and preparing a variety of reports; and answering questions, resolving complaints and providing information to the public regarding Parks programs and activities. An Associate degree, or equivalent, with course work in recreation administration or a related field and five years of experience, as well as one year of supervisory or lead experience, required. Supervisors assigned to parks maintenance or athletics must have knowledge of turf management, horticulture, chemical application, irrigation and/or arboriculture. Tree arborist certification highly beneficial for the parks maintenance position. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
