Full Description

Cimplifi's client is seeking a full-time Compliance Counsel to join its firm. This individual will be responsible for the review and negotiation of and compliance with Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) and will be critical in meeting client expectations by ensuring compliance with client-mandated regulations, policies, and procedures. The individual selected for this position will work closely with General Counsel to develop and implement a centralized, best-practice approach to analyzing, negotiating, and adhering to OCGs. This position can be filled from any of the firm's offices in the following locations: Washington, D.C.; Boston, MA; East Brunswick, NJ; Newark, NJ; Trenton, NJ; Hartford, CT; Stamford, CT; Indianapolis, IN; Miami, FL; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Wilmington, DE Requirements: • 3+ years legal experience in a law firm. • JD and licensed to practice law in a US Jurisdiction - any bar • Knowledge and experience with contract negotiation, legal risk assessment, and review of legal documents. • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with a strong focus on ability to work independently and efficiently on multiple projects. • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively present information to key stakeholders. Job Responsibilities (not exhaustive): • Oversee and actively manage workflows pertaining to OCG intake, analysis, negotiation, acceptance, and compliance processes. • Coordinate a cross-functional team to implement OCG management while maintaining attention to policies, procedures, and objectives. • Establish negotiation strategies for engagement letters and OCG terms. • Conduct periodic compliance audits covering areas ranging from sustainability to business operations as required by clients and firm management. • Support diligence and conflict of interest assessments for lateral attorneys and new business (especially issues pertaining to OCGs), including collaborating with firm partnership to address issues. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in legal operations departments and their potential impacts on compliance and risk management. • Assist the General Counsel on issues related to risk exposure, professional responsibility, regulations, and firm policy. • Work closely with the General Counsel and firm management to develop/enhance intake and the current compliance function. • Develop training programs and produce educational materials that bring awareness to compliance and risk topics.
